About The Position

Associate Laboratory Assistant at Providence Little Company of Mary Torrance in Torrance, CA. This position is full-time and will work 8-hour, Variable shifts. The Laboratory Technician works under the direction of the Laboratory Supervisor, and in their absence under the direction of the Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS), to provide technical, clerical and patient care support services. The Laboratory Technician performs a variety of procedures including venipuncture, skin puncture, specimen collection, specimen processing and distribution and the operation and maintenance of automated instrumentation up to but not including the resulting of laboratory data. Service is provided to patients of all age groups: premature infants, infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young, middle and older adults. Non-technical duties include taking of supply inventories, stocking supplies, cleaning and maintaining work area, equipment and instrumentation. The Laboratory Technician provides service in a safe and professional manner and works within the established policies and procedures of the Laboratory and the Organization. Requirements

  • Education to meet certification, license or registration requirement.
  • California Certified Phlebotomy Technician I License upon hire, Or California Certified Phlebotomy Technician II License upon hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Phlebotomy National Certification upon hire.
  • 3 months of experience as a Laboratory Technician in a hospital based clinical laboratory.
  • 6 months of experience as a phlebotomist.

Responsibilities

  • Perform venipuncture, skin puncture, specimen collection, specimen processing and distribution.
  • Operate and maintain automated instrumentation (up to but not including the resulting of laboratory data).
  • Take supply inventories, stock supplies, clean and maintain work area, equipment and instrumentation.
  • Provide technical, clerical and patient care support services.
  • Provide service in a safe and professional manner within established policies and procedures.
