We are seeking an Associate Investigator who is a driven and detailed-oriented individual to join our Genome Editing group’s molecular evolution-development team in Johnston, IA. This is a hands-on lab-based position, and it requires the ability to work efficiently and independently. The ideal candidate will demonstrate hands-on proficiency and a working knowledge of core molecular biology techniques and be able to execute, optimize, and troubleshoot protocols to deliver high quality results on time in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biochemistry, biological science, genetics, or related fields.
  • Hands-on experience performing routine molecular biology procedures (e.g. vector construction, E. coli transformation, isolation of plasmid DNA, genomic DNA isolation, and PCR).
  • Working knowledge of bioinformatic programs and computational workflows for the analysis of nucleic acid and protein sequences.
  • Demonstrated ability to rapidly shift project focus to meet changing demands.
  • Proven ability to advance multiple projects simultaneously is desired.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, with the ability to consistently follow and uphold safety and ergonomic policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred candidates would have a minimum of 1 year of related experience, or equivalent levels of relevant education and experience.
  • Experience with yeast genetic, or biochemical techniques would be a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct experiments and technical operations of moderate complexity.
  • Understand and optimize laboratory protocols and complete tasks in a safe and timely fashion
  • Recognize erroneous or unexpected results and ability to interpret and analyze data and make suggestions on next experiments.
  • Actively contribute to the development of work plans and efficiently manage own daily workload.
