About The Position

The Associate, Internal Product Specialists with Goldman Sachs Bank USA in Dallas, Texas, is responsible for underwriting and originating complex structured loans for commercial real estate-focused high net-worth clients. This role involves assessing, monitoring, and documenting credit and business risks across loan transactions within the existing portfolio. The associate will conduct thorough analysis of borrower financial conditions, evaluate collateral, identify risks and mitigants, and proactively recommend solutions to senior leadership. Additionally, the position includes originating and managing a portfolio of various other structured underwritten loans secured by Firm and third-party private equity/hedge funds, aircraft, fine art, hobby properties, private company stock, yachts, and marketable securities. Ensuring adherence to bank-approved underwriting standards and participating in business initiatives like new product development and systems/operational enhancements are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) or Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Business, Economics, Accounting, or related field and one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) in the job offered or in a related role.
  • Prior employment must include one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) with private bank lending including a demonstrated proficiency in analyzing complex borrower and guarantor structures and financial reporting.
  • Prior employment must include one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) with financial Accounting principles and strong financial valuation and modeling skills using Microsoft Excel.
  • Prior employment must include one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) with understanding of the regulatory frameworks and controls that govern the banking industry and lending business.
  • Prior employment must include one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) with commercial real estate underwriting principles including collateral evaluation and market research using open and proprietary sources of information.
  • Prior employment must include one (1) year of experience (with a Master’s degree) or three (3) years of experience (with a Bachelor’s degree) with communicating effectively both in writing and verbally with senior business leadership, clients and relevant stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite and originate complex structured loans to commercial real estate-focused high net-worth clients.
  • Assess, monitor, and document the credit and business risks incurred across loan transactions within the existing portfolio of deals.
  • Conduct routine, thorough analysis of the borrower’s financial condition, evaluate any collateral securing the loan, identify risks and mitigants, and proactively make recommendations to senior leadership to address looming challenges.
  • Work on originating and managing a portfolio of various other structured underwritten loans secured by Firm and third-party private equity/hedge funds, aircraft, fine art, hobby properties, private company stock, yachts, and marketable securities.
  • Ensure underwriting standards approved by the bank are adhered to in the loan approval process, with exceptions appropriately mitigated and documented.
  • Participate in various business-related initiatives, such as new product development and systems/operational enhancements.
