Requirements

  • Associate's degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field and 10+ years of related experience on commercial, historical, or industrial construction projects.
  • A high school diploma and equivalent additional work experience will be considered.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
  • Must be familiar with construction processes related to the area of assignment.
  • Must be local to the Washington DC area.

Responsibilities

  • Perform well-defined and sometimes difficult inspection tasks, including monitoring quality control procedures.
  • Inspect various facets of work on the construction site.
  • Perform continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
  • Document nonconformance and participate in discussions to determine appropriate resolution.
  • Inspection activities may be concentrated in areas such as civil, structural, interior finishes, roofing, mechanical, or electrical.
  • Inspect commercial construction installations to ensure adherence to statutory and customer regulations.
  • Perform continuing inspection of all items installed by the general contractor.
  • Provide general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
  • Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations.
  • May participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
  • May participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
  • Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
