Requirements

Associate's degree in a technical discipline or construction-related field and 10+ years of related experience on commercial, historical, or industrial construction projects.
A high school diploma and equivalent additional work experience will be considered.
Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
Must be familiar with construction processes related to the area of assignment.
Must be local to the Washington DC area.

Responsibilities

Perform well-defined and sometimes difficult inspection tasks, including monitoring quality control procedures.
Inspect various facets of work on the construction site.
Perform continuous surveillance of assigned construction activities to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and specifications.
Document nonconformance and participate in discussions to determine appropriate resolution.
Inspection activities may be concentrated in areas such as civil, structural, interior finishes, roofing, mechanical, or electrical.
Inspect commercial construction installations to ensure adherence to statutory and customer regulations.
Perform continuing inspection of all items installed by the general contractor.
Provide general inspection on all construction labor and subcontracted tasks to ensure professional workmanship.
Verify equipment alignment and balancing operations.
May participate in the development of job safety practices and in the preparation of safety reports.
May participate in the development of quality control reports and procedures.
Perform other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.
