About The Position

Ed Trust seeks an Associate II, Development on our Development team. The Associate II will join a staff committed to fulfilling our mission of closing opportunity gaps that disproportionately affect students of color and students from low-income backgrounds. The Development Associate II is a key contributor across the grants management life cycle, including grant review and submission, donor engagement, stewardship and outreach. This role operates with a high amount of independence and supports the preparation of high-quality grant proposals, reports, and funder correspondence; tracks renewals; and writes and coordinates individual fundraising communications. This position interfaces with programmatic teams across the organization, including the communications team and content team grant managers, to ensure that we accurately report our activities and outcomes achieved to our funder partners. Available immediately, this role is based in our Washington, DC office and is eligible for telework for up to 3 days per week under our current policy. The Development Associate II reports to the Chief Development Officer.

Requirements

  • At least a bachelor’s degree
  • At least 2-3 years of experience in related positions
  • Demonstrated experience with grants and/or individual fundraising

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with program teams and development team members to draft, edit and prepare high-quality proposals and reports (including required attachments), letters of inquiry, funder presentations, and stewardship updates for submission to funders, meeting all internal and external deadlines
  • Organize grant kick-off meetings and support grant managers in tracking grant deliverables throughout the grant period
  • Prepare donor correspondence on behalf of the CDO and/or President & CEO proactively and as requested
  • Write and coordinate all online donor cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship communications, working closely with the CDO and the Communications team to develop communications designed with individual donors in mind
  • Build knowledge of EdTrust’s policy positions, research, and impact, applying that knowledge to the development of internal and external fundraising materials
  • Keep abreast of best practices in fundraising and donor database management
