Merrick Bank is an FDIC-insured Utah Industrial Loan Bank, operating credit cards, recreational lending, and merchant services. Carson Smithfield, LLC provides post-charge-off debt recovery services. This Associate I role is primarily responsible for handling incoming and outgoing mail, return mail, and preparing items for scanning operations by a vendor. This includes distributing and collecting mail, preparing, processing, and forwarding outgoing mail, determining, affixing, and recording postage on registered mail/packages, handling checks for the Settlement Services department, and other mailroom functions. The position also involves performing administrative and clerical duties related to mail handling and providing operational and customer support for these processes.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or its equivalent education
  • Experience working with computers is
  • Must be able to work under pressure along with solid time management and problem-solving skills
  • Keyboarding proficiency
  • Familiarity with Windows based computer applications
  • Ability to work under pressure; flexibility and willingness to work at a rapid pace
  • Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions
  • Ability to compose simple correspondence
  • Ability to communicate with others and to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with essential job functions
  • Ability to multi-task is essential
  • Must be able to complete work within required timeframes
  • Must problem solve in an effective and efficient manner
  • Must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) year of related operations, support, or mailroom experience highly desirable
  • One (1) year of credit card or banking industry experience is a plus

Responsibilities

  • As assigned, track incoming mail, return mail, correspondence, checks, etc., and processes incoming / outgoing overnight packages
  • Review, sort, and prepare incoming mail to be forwarded for imaging
  • Assist other departments as needed
  • Maintain knowledge of current policy and procedure changes and updates, and serve as a resource to clients, and external departments
  • Handle the printing, folding, and stuffing for outgoing correspondence to customers
  • Process ad-hoc scanning requests as received by other operational areas
  • Perform delivery of mail to appropriate personnel and departments as needed
  • Capture and destroy returned cards
  • Fulfill special mailing requests as needed from other departments
  • Adhere to the regulatory timeframes and controls within the department and business unit
  • Perform other functions and duties as required by management/evolving needs of the department
