About The Position

Olympic College is recruiting for an Associate Head Coach of Track, Field & Cross Country. This role provides vital leadership within the Olympic College Athletic Department and contributes meaningfully to the Division of Student Development and Engagement. This position is responsible for enhancing the student-athlete experience by fostering leadership, discipline, and personal growth, while ensuring the efficient operation of both programs. Through strategic oversight of daily activities—including training, travel, and competition logistics—the Associate Coach supports the Athletic Director’s broader focus on community engagement, strategic planning, and departmental advancement. This role is instrumental in cultivating a positive, inclusive, and high-performing environment aligned with the college’s commitment to student success and holistic development.

Requirements

High School Diploma or Equivalent
Demonstrated experience in managing program operations, including budgeting, scheduling, and regulatory compliance.
Proven success in recruiting and developing student-athletes in alignment with academic and athletic standards.

Nice To Haves

Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred, ideally in Sports Management, Physical Education, Kinesiology, or a closely related field.
Minimum of three years of coaching experience in Track & Field and/or Cross Country, preferably at the collegiate level.
Prior experience working within the Northwest Athletic Conference (NWAC) or a similar collegiate athletic association is highly desirable.
Advanced Coaching Expertise: Demonstrated proficiency in coaching techniques and athlete development across multiple track and field disciplines and distance running, with a focus on performance optimization and injury prevention.
Strategic Program Leadership: Ability to contribute to long-term planning and program development strategies that align with institutional goals and promote student-athlete success.
Recruitment and Retention: Proven success in identifying, recruiting, and retaining diverse and talented student-athletes, while supporting their academic, athletic, and personal growth throughout their college experience.
Compliance and Risk Management: Strong understanding of NWAC, Title IX, and institutional compliance standards, with the ability to implement procedures that uphold program integrity, safety, and equity.

Responsibilities

Designing and implementing training and competition schedules
Overseeing recruitment and retention of student-athletes
Managing program budgets and resources
Ensuring compliance with institutional and conference policies
Supporting academic progress and personal development of student-athletes
Collaborating with athletic staff and campus partners to align program goals with college values
Direct the day-to-day operations of both programs, ensuring effective planning, execution, and evaluation of training, practices, and competitions.
Lead recruitment efforts and oversee the training and performance of student-athletes, fostering a culture of academic integrity, athletic excellence, and personal growth.
Organize team travel for competitions, including transportation, lodging, and meals, and manage related expense reconciliation in accordance with college policies.
Administer program budgets and resources, ensuring responsible financial management and compliance with institutional and conference guidelines.
Collaborate with the sports information team to highlight athlete achievements and program milestones through social media, websites, and other promotional platforms.
Work with campus departments and external partners to secure and manage athletic facilities and off-campus venues for practices and events.
Ensure adherence to NWAC, institutional, and state regulations, maintaining accurate documentation and timely reporting.
Support broader athletic initiatives such as Hall of Fame events, community outreach, and student development programming.
Represent the athletic department on college committees and contribute to campus-wide initiatives that promote student engagement and success.
Foster an inclusive, growth-oriented team environment that emphasizes leadership, wellness, and academic achievement.
