About The Position

This position is responsible for providing a broad range of high-quality legal services in the area of employment law, including litigation management, dispute resolution, policy and legal compliance, and contract drafting. In addition, the role provides advice and contract drafting related to independent contractors, consultants, and other third parties. This role supports Human Resources, management and business initiatives and is responsible for end-to-end ownership of important and complex projects, with minimal supervision.

Requirements

  • J.D. with strong academic credentials.
  • Current attorney license in good standing in Minnesota.
  • At least 8 years of high-quality employment law experience.
  • Unquestionable integrity, credibility and judgment.
  • Exceptional communication, crisis management, risk assessment, and cross-functional leadership abilities.
  • Proven drafting and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in pragmatically gauging legal and financial risk and weighing such risk against company needs and objectives.
  • Driven and self-motivated with a strong desire for customer service and excellence.
  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, prioritize workflow, meet deadlines, and manage multi-faceted projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with business leaders and other professionals and colleagues at all levels of an organization while utilizing excellent business and legal judgment in complex situations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide employment law advice to internal stakeholders, and draft and negotiate employment related agreements and documents.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of agreements and contracts, including independent sales rep agreements; staffing and consulting agreements, and other vendor agreements.
  • Manage compliance matters addressing employment matters and other related legal, regulatory and ethical areas.
  • Draft, review and update compliance policies and procedures.
  • Work with outside counsel on employment-related matters, as well as other litigation and key company matters.
  • Manage litigation brought by and against the company, and proactively assist in resolving disputes.
  • Assist sales management with independent contractor agreements, issues and strategies.
  • Assist the General Counsel and outside counsel as needed on mergers, acquisitions and investment activities, including due diligence support and integration post-acquisition.
  • Undertake other projects as assigned by the General Counsel to support business initiatives.

  • Salary range is $160,000 to $180,000 with annual bonus eligibility
