About The Position

The Associate General Counsel, Americas will serve as a senior legal leader supporting Sitecore’s commercial business across the Americas. This role is responsible for advising on complex technology transactions and leading legal support for SaaS, on-premises licensing, and other strategic commercial arrangements with Sitecore’s largest enterprise customers. You will partner closely with Sales, Product, Marketing, Sales Operations, Data Protection, and Security to provide practical, commercially focused legal advice, with a strong emphasis on software licensing, product counselling, and data protection issues in a fast-moving go-to-market environment. The role requires comfort operating in a sales-driven environment, balancing risk management with business enablement, and working collaboratively with colleagues across a globally distributed legal organization to support quarter-end and strategic business priorities. In addition, this role will manage and develop a team of lawyers, contributing to consistent execution, strong commercial judgment, and alignment with Sitecore’s overall legal strategy and standards.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • 8+ years of relevant commercial legal experience, gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house, with deep experience advising technology businesses, particularly SaaS, cloud-based, or software product companies.
  • Substantial experience drafting, negotiating, and closing complex commercial agreements.
  • Strong experience advising on data protection issues in commercial contracting, including customer-facing privacy, security, and related regulatory terms.
  • Experience providing product counselling support to product and business teams in a technology company, with sound judgment on legal and commercial issues arising in product development and go-to-market activities.
  • Proven people-management experience, including leading, developing, and mentoring attorneys, and the ability to manage a high-performing regional legal team across the Americas.
  • Demonstrated ability to act as a trusted strategic business partner, providing practical, commercially focused legal and business advice to senior leaders and executives.
  • Strong communication skills, executive presence, and judgment, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • High degree of ownership, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities and execute with pace in a fast-moving environment.
  • Collaborative, pragmatic, and service-oriented approach, with strong credibility and relationship-building skills.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally.
  • Based in the U.S., with the right to work.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience advising on intellectual property matters in a commercial or product context.
  • Experience managing commercial disputes, pre-litigation matters, or litigation through outside counsel.
  • Experience supporting go-to-market and product organizations within a SaaS or cloud business.
  • Experience working within a large, globally distributed in-house legal team, collaborating across regions and time zones, and partnering effectively with specialist legal functions.
  • Working knowledge of AI and LLM-enabled tools, with experience improving legal processes, contracting workflows, or risk management through technology.
  • Experience operating in a regional or multinational role, with exposure to cross-border legal and regulatory issues in the Americas.
  • Additional language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation of complex commercial agreements with Sitecore’s largest enterprise customers, including SaaS, on-premises software, and other strategic technology transactions.
  • Advise on customer-facing data protection, security, and AI-related contractual terms, partnering with specialist legal, Data Protection, and Security teams where needed.
  • Provide product counselling support to Product and related business teams, advising on legal issues arising from product development, launch, functionality, and go-to-market strategy.
  • Advise Sales, Product, Marketing, and partner teams on software licensing, technology transactions, and other commercial matters affecting Sitecore’s offerings and business model.
  • Review, draft, and maintain contract templates and related documentation for hosted and on-premises offerings, including customer-facing terms relating to data protection, security, AI, compliance, and risk allocation.
  • Lead, mentor, and support lawyers across the Americas legal team, promoting consistency, quality, and sound commercial judgment.
  • Partner with Sales and other teams to improve and streamline contracting and deal support processes, and with Finance and Procurement to support effective procurement and compliance workflows.
  • Deliver training and guidance to internal stakeholders to promote the consistent application of legal policies, playbooks, and contracting standards.
  • Support customer disputes, escalations, and other pre-litigation commercial matters, partnering with internal stakeholders and outside counsel as needed.
  • Support broader commercial and cross-functional legal matters and provide practical legal advice as a trusted member of the Sitecore legal and business leadership teams.
