About The Position

The Associate Footwear Developer Intern works alongside lead footwear developers and product managers to communicate technical concepts to factory partners and support footwear prototypes through collaboration and prototyping phases. The intern helps execute prototypes according to calendar expectations and learns footwear construction basics, communicates with the extended footwear team, and performs cost engineering to advance projects through product-season development stages. This is a 10-week, on-site internship at KEEN’s Global Headquarters in Portland, Oregon, running from Monday, June 14 through Friday, August 20. The intern must work 40 hours per week during standard weekday hours. Occasional travel in and around the Portland area may be required to support activations.

Requirements

Currently pursuing or recently completed a bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Sports Management, Movement Science, or a related field.
Must be or have been enrolled at an accredited college or university at the junior, senior, or graduate level.
Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.
Commit to the 10-week program from mid-June through mid-August and work 40 hours per week during the standard Monday–Friday work week.
Be available to work on-site in the office five days per week during normal working hours, listed as Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Plan no more than four total vacation days during the internship.
Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, and PowerPoint.
Be able to learn and adapt quickly to new software and tools.
Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail when preparing presentations, reports, and materials.
Demonstrate strong organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks.
Be able to work independently and collaborate with a team.
Be able to perform the essential functions of the role, with or without reasonable accommodation, including using a computer for extended periods.

Responsibilities

Maintain product-criteria data integrity by administering updates in the Centric footwear database system.
Communicate footwear technical packages and drive calendar-based objectives through prototype phases of the Go To Market calendar.
Document and deliver cost-based scenarios by breaking down cost information to support product-development decisions and achieve cost goals.
Work alongside lead footwear developers and product managers to execute prototypes according to calendar expectations.
Communicate and collaborate with the extended footwear team and factory partners.
