About The Position

We are currently hiring two Temporary Full-Time Associate Fleet Technicians in our Victoria, BC region. This is a 6-month contract with the possibility for extension and/or permanent conversions, subject to performance and operational needs. The successful candidate must reside within the southern region of Vancouver Island. Applicants who are not located within commuting distance of our Victoria Auto Service Centre, or are not looking to relocate to the Southern Vancouver Island region will not be considered. As an Associate Fleet Technician, you’ll be one of the first faces people see when they need help. As part of an outstanding network of 100 Road Assist team members, you’ll provide friendly and professional roadside assistance or towing services to members of BCAA and affiliated clubs. In this role, you’ll combine your passion for helping others with your knowledge and expertise in mechanical assistance. You’ll receive on-the-job training, tailored to your experience. You'll have the opportunity to participate in an apprenticeship program where you can attain the same knowledge and skills as Red Seals.

Requirements

  • Completed your high school diploma or have relatable experience.
  • At least 1-2 years of mechanical experience, preferably within automotive.
  • A good driver with a clean BC Driver License Class 5.
  • Confident navigating our cities and towns, regardless of the vehicle size, from two-seaters to 5-ton trucks.
  • Capable of safely lifting at least 70lbs during Member service, while prioritizing safety throughout the process.
  • Confident using technology (laptops, tablets and smartphones) and have strong English communication skills.

  • A second language is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to our Members when they need minor mechanical assistance, service or towing.
  • Assist in all weather conditions, ensuring a positive member experience throughout the assistance process.
  • Promote BCAA memberships and general information about affiliate products and services.
  • Report any issues and take the initiative to resolve them, seeking support as needed.
  • Ensure BCAA vehicles, equipment, and tools are kept clean, orderly and in good working condition.
  • Uphold BCAA service and safety standards.
  • Work rotational 24/7 shift work (including weekdays, evenings, weekends & statutory holidays).
  • Participate in an annual process to select shifts.
  • Shifts are posted one month in advance for a one-month period.
  • Be eligible to participate in a shift pick process annually and pick from a pool of available vary shifts.
