About The Position

This role is for an Associate, Financial Crimes Controls with Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah. The position is part of the Government Sanctions Group (GSG) within Financial Crimes Compliance (FCC) and will support the US regulatory reporting framework. The individual will ensure the Firm’s compliance with sanctions programs administered by various global authorities, including OFAC, OFSI, and the EU. Key responsibilities include serving as a subject matter expert on government sanctions regulations, managing daily regulatory reporting requirements to OFAC, conducting comprehensive searches for assets linked to sanctioned entities, and analyzing potential exposure. The role involves working under supervision, liaising with business, operations, and engineering divisions for information gathering, providing sanctions-related advice, implementing control frameworks, aggregating metrics for blocked assets, and performing data reconciliation, analysis, and tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Political Science, International Relations, Communications Technology, Economics, Project Management, Business Analytics, Finance, or a related field.
  • Three (3) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
  • Three (3) years of experience with data aggregation, analysis, reconciliation, and tracking.
  • Three (3) years of experience using external resources for sanctions research and investigation.
  • Three (3) years of experience understanding sanctions regulations and their implications.
  • Three (3) years of experience with general product and securities knowledge with a focus on securities.
  • Three (3) years of experience coordinating and communicating regarding the impact of sanctions laws and regulations with impacted business units.
  • Three (3) years of experience providing sanctions-related advice and context to relevant stakeholders and planning for a variety of outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Support the US regulatory reporting framework within the Government Sanctions Group (GSG).
  • Ensure the Firm’s compliance with sanctions programs administered by OFAC, OFSI, the EU, and other global authorities.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on government sanctions regulations.
  • Manage the day-to-day execution of the team’s regulatory reporting requirements to OFAC.
  • Conduct comprehensive searches of Firmwide systems to identify assets in which a sanctioned entity has a present, future, or contingent interest.
  • Analyze potential exposure to sanctioned entities.
  • Liaise with the business, operations, and engineering divisions to collect information relevant to potential sanctions concerns.
  • Provide sanctions-related advice to internal constituencies.
  • Implement commensurate control frameworks.
  • Aggregate key metrics for sanctioned blocked assets.
  • Conduct data reconciliation, analysis, and tracking.
