About The Position

The Associate, Equity Research is a part of the KeyBanc Capital Markets (KBCM) team and works closely with senior research professionals to assist in preparing and executing analyses of an assigned industry group, individual companies, and their securities. This role involves collecting, evaluating, and applying statistical and financial data on the economy and financial markets, specifically with respect to researching common stocks within specific industries. The associate will analyze and synthesize researched data, presenting trends and ideas for business opportunities and investment decision-making. They will also formulate and issue opinions and recommendations on securities and companies, prepare reports and financial models, and answer inquiries from firm personnel. Additionally, the role includes preparing studies for firm publication, disseminating special studies, models, forecasts, and presentations to furnish information to Syndicate or Investment Banking groups, and interviewing company executives or industry leaders to develop information sources. Maintaining company databases using spreadsheets and database software is also a key function. The associate must comply with all KeyBank policies and procedures, acting professionally, ethically, and in the best interests of Key’s clients and Key.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in business, accounting, finance, or a related field or completion of no less than 3 senior level accounting and/or financial analysis courses (required)
• 1+ years of experience in an analytical or financial role (required)
• Corporate financial modeling experience (required)
• Strong oral and written communication skills
• Experience with building financial models and equity data manipulation.
• Ability to conduct thorough and independent research and comfort with financial research platforms (Bloomberg, CapIQ, etc.)
• Ability to organize, analyze, and interpret data
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Access
• Strong interest in financial markets and working knowledge of market dynamics and influences.
• Ability to synthesize data and articulate findings through excellent presentation skills.

• Degree in Physics, Engineering, and Applied Mathematics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preparing reports, opinions, recommendations, and statistical data, including assisting in financial statement modeling, for use in the formulation of the investment policies and/or recommendations of the firm.
• Answering inquiries from firm personnel regarding individual securities or industry groups.
• Prepares studies and other data for firm publication issued to the general public.
• Preparing and disseminating special studies, models, forecasts, and/or presentations to furnish information to the Syndicate or Investment Banking groups on security offerings and underwriting.
• Interviewing company executives or industry leaders to develop and maintain sources of information in preparation of analyses.
• Maintaining company databases using spreadsheets and database software.
