About The Position

Wells Fargo is seeking an Associate Equity Portfolio Manager (Wealth Investment Associate Portfolio Manager) to lead the management of model-driven equity portfolios, delivering tax efficient investment performance while optimizing risk-adjusted returns. The Associate Equity Portfolio Manager is responsible for leading the design, implementation, and ongoing management of customized equity portfolios for High-net-worth and Ultra-high-net-worth clients. This role focuses on delivering tailored equity strategies that align with each client’s objectives, risk profile, and tax considerations, while leveraging research, market insights, and disciplined portfolio construction techniques. In partnership with relationship managers, investment strategists, and other wealth specialists, you will provide discretionary management of client portfolios with a tax-aware focus. You will be accountable for monitoring performance, rebalancing portfolios, and making adjustments in response to market conditions, corporate actions, and evolving client needs. This role requires depth of expertise in equity markets, strong risk management capabilities, and knowledge of tax-efficient implementation strategies such as direct indexing. Candidates must be able to simplify equity investment concepts into clear, actionable recommendations for advisors and clients.

Requirements

  • 6+ months of Wealth Investment Portfolio Management experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • US only: Obtaining and/or maintaining appropriate FINRA license(s) is required for ongoing employment in this position. FINRA Series 65 or equivalent must be completed within a 90-day time period following commencement of employment if not immediately available to transfer upon hire. FINRA recognized equivalents will be accepted. This will be communicated at time of offer acceptance. Compliance with state law registration and licensing requirements is mandatory. In addition to state registration and licensing requirements, specific product licenses or SAFE licensing may apply. Additional requirements include meeting enhanced financial fitness and criminal background standards. Wells Fargo will initiate the FINRA licensing review process at the time of offer acceptance. For specific FINRA qualification exams obtained after 9/30/2018, the Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) exam co-requisite is required.
  • Specific compliance policies may apply regarding outside activities or personal investing; affected employees will be expected to provide information to the Wells Fargo Personal Account Dealing Team and abide by applicable policy requirements if hired. Information will be shared about expectations during the recruitment process.
  • This position is subject to FINRA Background Screening Requirements, including successful completion and clearing of a background check.
  • Internal transfers are subject to comply with 17 CFR 240.17f-2 of the Securities Exchange Act of 1934 and FINRA Bylaws, Article III, Section 3, which states that Associated Persons should not be subject to statutory disqualification. Successful candidates must also meet ongoing regulatory requirements including additional screening and are required to report certain incidents.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Manage discretionary equity portfolios, aligning investment strategies with client objectives, risk tolerance, and market conditions.
  • Provide strategic consulting services to partners, advising on Equity Optimization offerings and portfolio construction approaches.
  • Leverage risk management tools to monitor portfolio exposures and minimize tracking error relative to benchmarks.
  • Monitor market, sector, and factor considerations to effectively manage portfolios within a risk-optimized framework.
  • Implement trades and continuously assess portfolio performance to identify value-add opportunities.
  • Deliver benchmark-aware investment outcomes while managing risk through a disciplined, model-driven investment process.
  • Ensure compliance with investment guidelines, regulatory requirements, and fiduciary responsibilities.
  • Participate in advisor forums and partner engagement opportunities, providing education, market insights, and support for EO solutions.
  • Build strong long-term relationships that support portfolio growth and increased assets under management (AUM).
