About The Position

As an Associate Security Engineer at Presidio, you will play a supporting role in the day-to-day administration of security tools and services within our Managed Detection & Response (MDR) environments. This is an ideal opportunity for early-career professionals eager to build a foundation in cybersecurity operations. You’ll work under the guidance of senior engineers and contribute to maintaining core components of security operations while developing your technical expertise in security engineering.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a cybersecurity, IT support, or SOC environment (internships or co-op experience acceptable).
  • Exposure to SIEM platforms (e.g., Elastic, Logz.io, Azure Sentinel) and general familiarity with security logging and event management.
  • Foundational understanding of networking protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, syslog), operating systems (Linux/Unix, Windows), and Active Directory.
  • Comfortable working in command-line environments and basic scripting (Bash, PowerShell, etc.).
  • Strong desire to learn and grow within the field of cybersecurity, with a generalist mindset.
  • Must be a US Citizen

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP is a plus.
  • Security certifications such as CompTIA Security+, Microsoft SC-900, or equivalent are encouraged but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the setup, configuration, and basic maintenance of security tools and platforms under the supervision of senior engineers.
  • Participate in the onboarding process for new clients, including integrating initial data sources.
  • Collaborate closely with team members to support daily operations and follow standard procedures.
  • Troubleshoot common technical issues and escalate more complex incidents appropriately.
  • Help maintain accurate documentation of configurations, processes, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and team learning initiatives.
  • Support audit preparation and basic system monitoring activities.
