About The Position

Associate Test Engineer Onsite in San Jose, CA The Product and Test Engineering team at Ayar Labs is hiring an Associate Test Engineer to support Test hardware development for our SuperNOVA and TeraPHY products. This will include designing and supporting test collaterals for both benchtop and automated test equipment. Candidates will assist in the bring-up and debug of key test hardware, including Probe Cards, Fiber Array Units, electrical/optical instruments, and mechanical hardware. This is an on-site position. Candidates must be comfortable working within Electronics Labs, Laser Labs, and our Class 1000 clean room. Candidates should be familiar with cleanroom operations, cleaning, maintaining, and calibrating equipment to prevent contamination.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of industry experience working with electronic test equipment
  • Hands-on experience with electronic equipment such as Oscilloscopes, VI meters, signal generators, and analyzers
  • Experience with Cadence schematic and PCB layout tools or similar EDA tools.
  • Understanding of semiconductor electronics, optics, and fiber optics
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow technical directions, such as instrument manuals or assembly instructions.
  • Ability to assemble mechanical and electrical hardware

Nice To Haves

  • BSEE or equivalent
  • Able to code with Python
  • Hands-on experience with Test equipment, including ATEs, Probers, and Probe Cards
  • Experience in Semiconductor, Consumer Electronics, or PCB industry
  • Ability to assemble optical hardware

Responsibilities

  • Bring-up and provide hands-on support for Test hardware needs as defined by Product Development, Design, and Validation Engineering teams.
  • Operate Test Equipment and troubleshoot issues related to optical instrumentation, electrical components, and software.
  • Maintain and support test equipment, including installing hardware and software, ensuring that all equipment operates under normal conditions.
  • Develop hardware solutions, including electrical and optical devices.
  • Understand engineering drawings, schematics, PCB layout, bill of materials, and using lab equipment. (e.g., Oscilloscopes, Multimeters).
  • Provide lab support, including rework, soldering, and troubleshooting.
  • Understand Python software to automate experimental runs and analyses.
  • The candidate will work closely with the Product and Test team to help consolidate, standardize, and test existing/new drivers and recipes.
