About The Position

Otto Aerospace is seeking a dynamic engineer to support the design, development, and integration of Mechanical Systems, including Interior Furnishings & Equipment. You will join a team developing the world’s most efficient aircraft. Otto Aerospace is seeking first principles engineers that balance creativity with experience while working within an effective team atmosphere.

Requirements

  • B.S., in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent
  • 0-2 years of experience in Mechanical Systems design

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fabrication, assembly, and installation methods of mechanical components
  • Experience with ASME Y14.100 Drawings and Y14.5 GD&T
  • Experience with model and drawing checking, engineering part and model release, and engineering change process
  • Experience in composite and metallic rapid prototyping (additive manufacturing) for both experimental and production applications
  • Experience utilizing CATIA V5, V6, or 3dx

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and integrate mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, performance standards, and regulatory requirements, to include the following: Mechanical Systems (Flight Controls (ATA 27), Landing Gear (ATA 32), Ice Protection (ATA 30)), Furnishings & Equipment (ATA 25) (Cabin Interior Furnishings & Equipment, Cockpit Interior Furnishings).
  • Conduct trade studies for optimized form, fit, and function of mechanical systems to include detailed system layouts and airframe integration in CATIA 3DExperience (3DX).
  • Support generation of Interface Control Documentation (3D and 2D models).
  • Participate in interdisciplinary design reviews, incorporating structural, thermal, environmental and ergonomic requirements.
  • Collaborate with industrial design, stress, certification, manufacturing, and supply chain teams.
  • Coordinate with cross functional teams to define and validate interfaces with adjacent systems and structures.
  • Create both experimental and production digital product definition for components, assemblies, and installations, to include dimensions, materials, and processes necessary to fully define the configuration.
  • Produce bill of materials and assist in manufacturing assembly instructions.
