This role involves supporting Utility-Scale Solar Proposals/Projects as an Electrical Engineer. The position requires performing detailed calculations using Excel according to national electric codes and industry standards for accurate solar project design. The engineer will also complete technical equipment specifications for large-scale solar projects, including knowledge of MV and LV switchgear, transformers, switchboards, breakers, relays, inverters, batteries, and various types of cables. Responsibilities include reviewing customer requirements, providing technical input for design decisions, and performing engineering functions based on established principles. This role is a step up from an Engineer 1, involving larger and more complex assignments, and requires continuous learning of departmental design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes, and B&V policies. The engineer will prepare and verify less complex engineering deliverables, conduct research for equipment and material selection, and manage data. Complex engineering calculations such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash, cable ampacity, grounding, and voltage drop are expected. The role also requires adherence to budget, schedule, and quality requirements, coordination with project leadership for design and interdisciplinary coordination, and focusing on internal client needs while understanding external client interests. Support for business development and pursuit activities may be required, along with sharing knowledge of current technology and processes. This position does not have hire/fire authority.
