About The Position

The Associate Engineer - Distribution Planning is responsible for assisting in the planning and design of the electric distribution system. This role involves analyzing system performance, identifying areas for improvement, and developing solutions to meet future load growth and reliability requirements. The Associate Engineer will work closely with experienced engineers and other departments to ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the distribution network.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Willingness to obtain necessary certifications or training for NERC compliance roles.

Nice To Haves

Internship or co-op experience in the utility industry.
Familiarity with distribution system analysis software (e.g., CYME, SynerGEE).
Knowledge of power systems engineering principles.
Understanding of regulatory requirements affecting electric utilities.

Responsibilities

Assist in the development of distribution system plans and studies.
Analyze distribution system performance data and identify potential issues.
Support the design and implementation of distribution system upgrades and projects.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including operations, construction, and regulatory affairs.
Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation.
Stay current with industry best practices, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in system emergency response as needed.
Support NERC Reliability Standards compliance activities as assigned.
