About The Position

Nintendo Technology Development, a subsidiary of Nintendo Co., Ltd., is seeking a junior engineer with a passion for audio technologies and a keen eye for detail. The Redmond audio team is part of a small global group focused on researching and developing system software for current and future Nintendo game systems. In this role, you will contribute to prototyping, developing, maintaining, debugging, profiling, optimizing, and testing audio firmware. The ideal candidate will possess experience with digital audio, proficiency in C/C++, and strong communication skills.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Coursework or foundational knowledge in digital signal processing (DSP).
  • Experience with real-time embedded and cross-platform development.
  • 3 or more years of professional experience with C/C++ programming.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Applicants must be legally eligible to work in the United States to be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of DSP architectures (eg. Hifi, Hexagon, ARM SIMD).
  • Experience with acoustic and audio signal processing algorithms.
  • Familiarity with audio peripherals and interfaces (eg. I2S, TDM, PDM, DMA).

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement audio system software.
  • Characterize, analyze, organize, and present detailed performance metrics of features at a large scale.
  • Optimize, maintain, validate, and diagnose failures in existing and new systems.
