About The Position

Assists in performing EEG and evoked potential recordings as ordered by a Physician. Prepares patient for examinations. Monitors patient's condition. Maintains EEG recordings and logs exams performed. Job Responsibility 1.Positions patient on examination table for optimum testing. 2.Translates procedures into layman's terms based on professional knowledge in order to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety. 3.Sets up equipment to administer the particular procedure in a timely fashion. 4.Applies a variety of biopotential electrodes to the patient as required, under supervision. 5.Assists in performing electroencephalograms, standard EEG, sleep deprived studies, neonatal studies and electrocerebral silence recordings as directed by a Physician. 6.Differentiates between cerebral and non-cerebral potentials in a timely manner. 7.Modifies recording protocol appropriately when abnormalities occur in the EEG, adding electrodes in on-standard locations and devising the appropriate recording techniques with minimal assistance. 8.Abstracts the relevant information for the patient's clinical record, obtaining additional information by questioning patient or referring Physician. 9.Monitors patient's condition during testing. 10.Recognizes and promptly reports patient's motor abnormalities including fainting, apnea and bradycardia, seizures, etc. to appropriate supervision. 11.Performs related duties as required. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent, required.
  • Graduate from an accredited or formal certificate EEG program, required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or equivalent certification, required.

  • Prior EEG experience, preferred.
