As a Non-Registered EEG Technician, you will perform routine electroencephalographic examinations in a welcoming and encouraging workplace environment. A caregiver in this position works a full-time position requiring 40 hours per week, with a flexible schedule that may vary from week to week. Shifts will fall between 7:00 AM and 11:00 PM, Sunday through Saturday. While the schedule may often be Monday through Friday, candidates must be available to work weekends as needed based on business needs. Flexibility is essential for this role.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Electroneurodiagnostics or a related patient care field OR two years of direct patient care experience
  • Completion of an EEG Technician Trainee Program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • American Board of Registration for Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) Credentialing for a Registered EEG Technologist (R. EEG T.) within two years of hire
  • Manual dexterity in order to place electrodes precisely and to operate recording equipment.
  • Ability to push and maneuver EEG machine weighing 320 pounds and Evoked Potential machine weighing 420 pounds.
  • Requires corrected hearing and vision to normal range.
  • Requires some exposure to communicable disease or body fluids.

Responsibilities

  • Perform electroencephalographic examinations.
  • Select predetermined electrode combinations (montages) to obtain recordings, recognize artifacts and take appropriate steps to eliminate them.
  • Monitor on the same apparatus, other variables such as electromyograms, electrocardiograms, electro-oculograms, respiration, etc.
  • Observe patient with video recording equipment, ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly, and check focus, lighting and microphone.
  • Set-up patient for continuous monitoring at the bedside with video, if indicated.
  • Instruct nursing caregivers on pushing event button and care of videos.
  • Abstract relevant information from the patients' clinical record and obtain additional information.
