About The Position

UPMC's Health Plan and Workpartners are hiring an Associate Employee Assistance Program Specialist for its LifeSolutions Clinical Services team. This role will support the team at Saint Francis University during the academic year with Flex Full time hours. The ideal candidate will have one of the following Licensure: Clinical Social Worker (CSW), Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), or Licensed Social Worker (LSW). This position will primarily be located at Saint Francis University (117 Evergreen Drive, Loretto, PA) with specific weekly hours. There is an additional opportunity for licensed candidates in the summer, offering work-from-home virtual counseling. UPMC Health Plan is a for-profit entity, therefore, employment in this position is not eligible for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. Under the direction of the LS Clinical Director and/or the Medical Director, the Associate EAP Specialist is responsible for providing clinical services for the Employee Assistance Program. This program offers confidential counseling and guidance to employees, household members, students of various contracted organizations, and telemedicine clients experiencing personal, mental health, and/or job-related problems. The Associate EAP Specialist will provide short-term, focused clinical interventions for clients utilizing a telemedicine platform under the supervision of the Medical and Clinical Director. The role involves establishing collaborative relationships with clients, physicians, healthcare providers, and employers to achieve desired outcomes. The Associate EAP Specialist will consult with supervisory and management personnel regarding staff member performance issues and appropriate actions. Additionally, the role includes developing and presenting trainings to employer groups as requested and serving as a resource for various services like Health Coaching, website resources, and community/provider resources.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Social Work, Counselor Education, Counseling and Guidance, Psychology, or related behavioral sciences.
  • Must follow licensing criteria for supervision and be eligible for and actively pursuing licensure.
  • Must have or be actively pursuing one of the following licenses (Proof of application for licensure is required): Clinical Social Worker (CSW), Licensed Certified Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
  • Associate EAP Specialist must be able to apply for licensure in their field of study within 2 years of hire.
  • Act 33 with renewal
  • Act 34 with renewal
  • Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal

Nice To Haves

  • Two years of previous work experience in general counseling including experience in drug/alcohol counseling, preferred.
  • Experience in employee assistance programs, administrative duties, case management, and clinical service delivery is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model of Service Excellence by providing quality employee counseling services that are responsive, proactive, and accessible.
  • Provide short-term, client-focused interventions via in-person or live video for a range of personal or mental health needs, educating clients on coping skills, goal setting, and problem-solving strategies.
  • Complete intake, assessment, referrals, and case management for employees, their household members, and telehealth clients with personal, work-related, mental health, or career issues.
  • Maintain confidential records for each client and manage ongoing case management and follow-up, meeting session benchmarks.
  • Assist supervisory/management or faculty personnel in assessing employee or student performance problems and interpreting EAP policies regarding problematic staff members.
  • Provide consultation to management under the direction of a licensed supervisor when a staff member's problem or impairment interferes with job performance.
  • Consult with supervisor regarding issues specifically related to student assistance programs to support faculty and school officials.
  • Maintain timely client and activity documentation, utilizing associated documentation systems for EAP and telehealth clients.
  • Participate in group and individual supervision as required, presenting clinical cases in an organized manner.
  • Provide assistance and information regarding EAP intervention on specific organizational problems or requests, including drug testing, fitness for duty, DOT compliance, violent events, traumatic events, and downsizing.
  • Coordinate involvement of other EAP staff as necessary, in consultation with leadership.
  • Provide liaison with community and private referral resources, as well as managed care entities.
  • Develop, recommend, and research external providers, and expand and improve the EAP referral network.
  • Respond to requests for department interventions, in consultation and under supervision.
  • Participate in research protocols as directed, and contribute to writing, publishing, and presenting EAP programs and initiatives.
  • Implement and complete special projects as requested, potentially serving on committees.
