About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking an Associate DON (Med/Surg) for an exciting Contract assignment in New York, NY. This role involves providing leadership and operational oversight for designated Med/Surg departments, supervising nursing staff, and managing daily workflow. The position requires collaboration with Nurse Managers and leadership teams to improve departmental operations, support performance management, and maintain systems for documentation and medication error tracking. The Associate DON will promote patient-centered care, regulatory compliance, and participate in quality assurance initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited Nursing Program required
  • Active RN License required
  • Primary Source Verification of RN License and Registration through NYSED required
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Minimum 7 years of nursing experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Experience with staffing/scheduling management, quality improvement, patient safety oversight, and regulatory compliance required

Nice To Haves

  • Strong Med/Surg leadership experience preferred
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Prior Associate DON or acute care Nurse Leadership experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight for designated Med/Surg departments
  • Supervise nursing staff, unit operations, and daily workflow management
  • Assist with staffing coordination and scheduling to maintain adequate unit coverage
  • Monitor patient care quality, safety standards, and compliance initiatives
  • Collaborate with Nurse Managers and leadership teams to improve departmental operations
  • Support performance management, coaching, and corrective action processes
  • Maintain systems for documentation, medication error tracking, and counseling records
  • Promote patient-centered care and regulatory compliance standards
  • Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and accreditation standards
