About The Position

The Center for Community Engagement (CCE) Associate Director is responsible for the overall operation and management of the CCE programs based at the USU Logan Campus. Primary duties include overseeing USU Logan Campus programmatic operations, supervising USU Logan Campus Program Coordinators and CCE staff assistant, and guiding USU community engagement initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with five years of relevant professional experience in community engagement; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the programmatic and financial operations of DPCCES, supports and supervises staff, and promotes the department on the local, regional and national level.
  • Oversees all CCE Logan Campus-based programs, including Christensen Office of Service & Sustainability (COSAS), Education Outreach, Community-Engaged Learning, Peace Corps Prep, and Aggie Blue Bikes
  • Meets regularly with Executive Director (ED) to review progress toward annual and strategic goals, refine policies and procedures and review budgets
  • Works with ED to create and oversee overall DPCCES budget
  • Works with ED and Student Success administration to secure adequate programming space
  • Works with the Associate Vice Provost for Community Engagement to deepen and strengthen community engagement across the institution
  • Serves on core writing team for Carnegie Community Engagement Classification
  • Serves on Provost's Advisory Committee for Community Engagement
  • Regularly meets with USU Advancement to discuss departmental funding opportunities, including the Ivory Prize for Excellence in CE and Giving Campaigns
  • Works to secure funding for CCE programs through internal and external opportunities
  • Represents the department at professional conferences and meetings
  • Actively participates in inter-university networking through Utah Campus-Community Engagement Network (UCCEN) meetings and conferences
  • Collaborates with departments and programs across campus on institutional CE initiatives and programs, i.e. Faculty Fellows in Community Engagement, Community-Engaged Departments, Community-Engaged Scholars Network, USU Sustainability Council
  • Oversees the annual Community Engagement Poster Session & Awards
  • Oversees surveys and data collection for the CCE annual report, Carnegie Classification, grant reports, etc.
  • Supports and supervises CCE professional staff
  • Leads regular CCE campus staff meetings
  • Conducts regular check-in meetings with CCE program coordinators
  • Facilitates annual goal setting and staff development plans
  • Organizes staff retreats for team building, goal setting, and planning
  • Regularly participates in CCE events and activities to support staff and ensure high-quality programming
  • Supervises and evaluates staff performance
  • Serves as lead on hiring committees for direct reports
  • Oversees Community-Engaged Learning Course Designation Program
  • Facilitates professional development and networking for CE faculty and community partners
  • Maintains and updates course designation form in ServiceNow
  • Provides CEL faculty with course feedback
  • Approves CEL courses in ServiceNow
  • Works with Asst. Director of CEL to manage AggiePulse for CEL/CCE, and secures funding for annual contribution to subscription
  • Oversees review process for CCE grants and annual awards
  • Coordinates Faculty Fellows in Community Engagement to: Submit quarterly "Faculty Spotlight" for Utah State Today
  • Raise awareness of CEL course development and designation process across all campuses, colleges and departments
  • Provide peer mentorship for faculty new to CEL
  • Develop faculty professional development and learning opportunities through ETE, Utah Campus Community Engagement Network (UCCEN), etc.
  • Promote the Community-Engaged Department designation
  • Complete additional CE responsibilities as defined by Fellows
