Lead the Cost Management team on specific client commissions, ensuring the team delivers on all accountabilities. Interface with the client, stakeholders, and other consultants at all project stages. Identify opportunities to improve cost management procedures, templates, and products. Monitor, track, and analyze schedule progress in the field (actual vs. forecast). Develop and implement project controls strategies, policies, and procedures, ensuring QA/QC is followed. Evaluate and identify the risk profile of the project and provide recommendations to the client on how to mitigate risks. Perform work using spreadsheet, report writing, presentations, and industry-accepted applications for cost, planning, and progress measurement. Ensure that key information and learning generated from each commission is inputted into internal databases and case studies are shared. Drive process improvement by identifying and acting upon ways to improve internal systems and processes with the client and achieve standardization in reporting to help leadership with decision-making efforts. Lead proposals for new work or variations for existing projects. Attend relevant networking events, industry conferences, and other promotional opportunities. Manage staff by mentoring early career starters, undertaking formal management of staff, conducting recruitment interviews, and performing staff performance reviews. Manage finances by utilizing the tools provided within D365 and Hive to track ongoing margin levels and monthly fee/resource forecasts for each commission. Review and participate with the design services team and general contractor in the development of cost estimates. Reconcile changes that occur over the planning phase and assist the general contractor to ensure their data is accurate. Ensure compliance with quality standards and participation in ISO audits. Communicate or meet with the general contractor and owner project manager to gather status information to prepare a cost estimate update and benchmarking database. Prepare written comments on the general contractor’s submissions, including the executive summary. Coordinate all sources of cost information for cost discussions and suppliers directly from NPA, subs, quantities from A/Es. Perform the foregoing utilizing tools including MS project, Primavera, Smartsheet, PowerBI, AutoDesk Revit, BIM360 for collaboration across all project stakeholders (Architects, Engineers, Interior Designers, Subcontractors, Scheduler, Client Representative, and Project Owner) and for delivering efficient results through the supporting tool. The role also involves duties related to an Estimator, including generating accurate and timely project-based mechanical and plumbing estimates using FastPipe and FastDuct software, developing Mechanical estimates for commercial and industrial projects, providing change order management services to high-tech clients for Mechanical and plumbing, reviewing mechanical and plumbing bid packages to ensure completeness with plans and scope and provide necessary recommendations to identify areas to save costs, performing detailed takeoffs of mechanical and plumbing drawings and generate estimates at conceptual, programming, and detailed stages of estimation, providing cost input for value engineering efforts of MEP trades, interfacing collaboratively with internal and external clients and stakeholders at all project stages, maintaining working knowledge of construction market conditions throughout North America, including new and updated official published data, maintaining existing client relationships, and identifying opportunities to develop new business.
