About The Position

The Associate Director, STEM Career Advising coaches and advises students and alums on career planning strategies. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who evaluates the needs of students and corporate partners and proactively takes appropriate action.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of work experience in Professional Development, Human Resources, HR Training, Campus Recruitment or Career Advising, specifically in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math
  • Master's degree in higher education, business, counseling, or related field
  • Experience needed working with a CRM and career services manager, preferably Symplicity
  • Demonstrable work with SaaS platforms within the higher education space
  • Thinks creatively to evaluate and improve existing processes
  • Strategic thinking that sees past the obvious
  • Understands and builds community
  • Meets deadlines while communicating progress
  • Strong, polished interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills
  • Follows complex operational procedures with little guidance; self-managing
  • Professional and comfortable conducting business
  • Detail-oriented, energetic, collaborative, and proactive with a can-do approach
  • Adaptable to new, increasingly tech-driven ways of doing business
  • Creative, strategic thinking to help students identify career paths
  • Extensive experience in career coaching and professional development for assigned student populations
  • Uses a CRM to input, track, and report on student progress
  • Knowledge of engagement and relationship-building strategies

Responsibilities

  • Conduct career strategy sessions and group educational programs for students and alums through in-person, virtual, and online resources
  • Oversee and execute programs and initiatives to enhance YU students' employability
  • Support the career community approach to advising; partner with faculty and alums to provide a holistic career strategy while in school and for post-graduation, leading to the beginning of an impactful career, whether it be a great job and/or acceptance into a master's program and/or terminal degree, or other professional aspiration
  • Educate students on both traditional career preparedness topics and those relating to the specific industries assigned to this position
  • In partnership with other assigned SGC personnel, facilitate the annualized standardized first destination data process, and contribute to other data collection and reporting methods as assigned
  • Seek to collaborate with any staff, faculty, parent, alumni, and/or employer, or constituent who can contribute to the success of our students and alumni
