About The Position

The Associate Director, Social Media will lead development and tactical initiatives, serving as social media counsel to Account staff and external clients in collaboration with the social team lead. This person will manage a team of junior staff across multiple projects, while taking responsibility for strategy, execution, platform collaboration and social consultation. This person also conducts social listening research, delving deep into disease areas to unearth insights, provide relevant observations and add data points. Social listening query creation, data pulls and optimization are key. Another area of focus is the development of influencer relationship management programs that deal with the identification, analysis and curation of influencers within a particular patient population. This Associate Director, Social Media has an intimate understanding of paid media and can communicate paid social planning recommendations to clients, providing granular tactical information at the platform level and illustrating how that information fits into a broader digital ecosystem and PESO structure. This person must be adept at cross-collaboration with other subject matter experts and willing to engage and educate their peers. Externally, this person is expected to serve as the primary subject matter expert. They will also start to take responsibility for the financial health of the business. They should understand how to scope, staff and report on social media project initiatives by budget, task and level of effort. Although this person will have the support and partnership of the Account Director, they will begin to build the business organically and they may be asked to participate in new business pitches.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Journalism or Communications/PR
  • Approximately 5+ years of related agency or business experience
  • High familiarity with business and personal use of social media, third-party management tools and social listening platforms.
  • Ability to derive insights and actionable next steps from social listening data and social platform performance.
  • Understand the role that paid media plays within a social-owned marketing strategy, along with the importance of influencers in the social space
  • Strong multi-tasking and problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a team environment with the occasional delegation to junior staff
  • Strong client relationship skills and a knack for maximizing organic growth opportunities within current workload
  • Excellent communication skills: Ability to write about, explain and present social media tactics and concepts in a highly regulated environment
  • Proven ability to manage projects independently and collaboratively to successful completion
  • Understands and leads social media performance analytics
  • IRM campaign creation and management
  • Periodic travel required
