About The Position

The Credit Ratings team is a vital part of the Global Ratings Services, with 1400 analysts globally. They focus on delivering high-quality insights and client service across all sectors. This role offers a supportive and flexible work environment within a team of approximately 15 analysts per sector, who have diverse backgrounds and experiences. S&P Global Ratings provides critical insights through analyst-driven credit ratings, research, and sustainable finance opinions, enabling market participants to make informed decisions. They aim to bring transparency to the market by offering independent opinions on creditworthiness, supporting the growth of businesses, governments, and institutions. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in the financial services industry.
  • Broad knowledge of corporate credit and its interrelationships in the market.
  • Highly proficient at working with financial models.
  • Demonstrated track record of analytical skills.
  • Possess critical thinking skills.
  • Proficiency with major off-the-shelf software.
  • Aptitude to be a team player but also able to work independently with strong accountability and limited supervision.
  • MBA, advanced degree and/or CFA.
  • Strong verbal communication and writing skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent time management and the ability to stay organized, meet deadlines, and multi-task.
  • Ability to think independently and critically.
  • Ability to mentor others.
  • Able to listen actively to different perspectives, respond appropriately and empathetically, and communicate recommendations clearly and persuasively.
  • Must have an indefinite right to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze a portfolio of assigned entities and complex situations, data, and information.
  • Assess issuers’ quarterly and annual operating results against financial projections.
  • Meet with issuers and investors on analytical matters.
  • Assist in resolving client needs.
  • Contribute to media and other investor inquiries.
  • Take the lead at external meetings related to credits, as assigned by a more senior manager.
  • Consider multiple possible courses of action, make well-supported recommendations, and influence buy-in based on analysis.
  • Act as the primary analyst for complex entities and be an active voting member of the committee.
  • Make recommendations to the rating committee and prepare materials for ratings publication.
  • Advise others on complex analytical matters.
  • Develop forecasts and recommend ratings for issuers and debt issues consistent with existing S&P criteria.
  • Learn and apply S&P internal systems.
  • Effectively communicate S&P’s methodology and procedures to clients.
  • Operate with a high degree of autonomy and limited day-to-day direction.
  • Identify market trends and relevant market interrelationships that may affect credit quality and rating outcomes.
  • Write analytical reports.
  • Contribute to thought leadership pieces.
  • Synthesize analysis into well-reasoned and well-supported rating recommendations.
  • Apply analytical results to improve functional operations and overall team effectiveness.
  • Work effectively with markets and jurisdictions outside of primary focus in a team-oriented, multi-cultural, and global environment.
  • Work closely with other teams within the business area to deliver effectively and build trust through collaboration.
  • Ensure a risk-aware culture, including leading by example.
  • Support effective operational systems and processes and manage resources with a focus on sustainable delivery.
