About The Position

Temple University's Institutional Advancement Department is searching for an Associate Director, Principal Gift Stewardship! This position provides project management and subject matter expertise to develop and execute high-quality stewardship and donor relations initiatives that strengthen donor confidence, enhance the donor experience, and support long term donor satisfaction and retention. The Associate Director works closely with the Executive Director and collaborates with school and college partners, Principal Gift Operations, prospect managers and program leaders across the university. The position serves as a strategic partner in developing personalized donor communications, impact reports, recognition opportunities and other stewardship experiences that demonstrate the impact of philanthropy and fulfillment of donor intent. The Associate Director provides responsive and thoughtful service to donors and advancement colleagues, ensuring stewardship materials reflect institutional priorities, donor interests and Temple’s brand and communication standards while helping advance a strong culture of philanthropy across the university. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • At least four years of experience working in donor relations/stewardship, advancement, fundraising, grant management, advancement communications, and marketing, preferably in a higher education setting.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Exceptional stewardship-related writing, production, and project management skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Banner or equivalent development database.
  • Advanced competencies in data management tools.
  • Must be willing to undergo training in internal systems.
  • Proficiency in research, interpreting, and analyzing financial data to inform reporting on named funds, and other engagement activities in an organized manner.
  • Must possess solid interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment with students, staff, faculty, families, and alumni.
  • Skill in problem solving and using judgment in situations requiring independent initiative and tact.
  • Ability to manage, organize, plan, and follow through on simultaneous projects independently and/or under general guidance/supervision.
  • Must be comfortable with fast-paced environment with frequent high-level assignments and daily deliverables for colleagues and superiors.
  • Attention to detail and excellent written, data collection, and oral communication skills required.
  • Ability to work with sensitive or confidential information in a discreet and professional manner.
  • Must be willing to work occasional nights and weekends for events.
  • This position requires the following background checks: Cash Handling and Personally Identifiable Information background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with leadership and principal gift donor audiences.
  • Graphic design and content layout and placement experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of donor relations and stewardship principles; working knowledge of corresponding fundraising and advancement services functions.
