Associate Director, Operational Excellence

IRENFort Worth, TX

About The Position

IREN is a vertically integrated AI Cloud provider, delivering large-scale data centers and GPU clusters for AI training and inference. IREN’s platform is underpinned by its expansive portfolio of grid-connected land and power in renewable-rich regions across North America, Europe and APAC. Reporting to the Global Director, Asset Management and Operational Excellence, the Associate Director, Operational Excellence supports the development and execution of standardized operational practices, performance governance, and readiness programs across IREN's data centre portfolio. This role works closely with site operations teams to optimize asset and system performance, strengthen operational readiness — including the transition from construction and commissioning into steady-state operations — and build the technical competency, workforce development, and training foundation needed to scale reliably. With 100% renewable energy, we build, own and operate our data centers and take pride in being at the forefront of sustainable solutions for the ever-evolving applications of high-performance compute. We believe that human progress is invaluable, but it should be done in the right way – responsibly, sustainably and having a positive impact on the communities we operate in.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Technical Studies, or equivalent), with relevant certifications or technical leadership training considered an asset.
  • 8-12 years of progressive experience in critical infrastructure or mission-critical operations, preferably within hyperscale, colocation, or large-scale industrial environments.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting or building KPI tracking, audit frameworks, or operational governance processes across multiple sites.
  • Experience operating across the construction-to-operations boundary, including facility onboarding and commissioning handover.
  • Demonstrated progression from hands-on site-level execution toward broader operational governance or process improvement work.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority across site teams.
  • Sound technical judgment and ability to operate with a degree of autonomy while aligning with enterprise standards.

Responsibilities

  • Support the rollout and adoption of standardized operating procedures, maintenance playbooks, and technical documentation across assigned sites, reinforcing operational standards, governance, and execution discipline in maintenance effectiveness, work execution, and operational planning.
  • Coordinate internal operational reviews and audits to assess site adherence to company and customer requirements, identifying and closing operational consistency gaps across the portfolio through corrective action.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining performance frameworks, KPIs, and governance processes — including dashboards covering maintenance completion, work order resolution, and labor efficiency — that support asset and system performance optimization, leadership visibility, and decision-making as the portfolio scales while maintaining reliability.
  • Act as a key liaison supporting operational readiness during the transition from construction and commissioning into live operations, supporting new site ramp-up and resolving coordination gaps between disciplines.
  • Identify opportunities to bring select maintenance and operational functions in-house where doing so improves cost efficiency or reliability outcomes, while helping establish operating parameters, guardrails, and risk-based limits that protect asset health.
  • Partner cross-functionally with other functions on initiatives affecting site readiness, scalability, and operational performance, contributing to scalable operating models, systems, and practices that support growth.
  • Contribute to the design and delivery of onboarding and training programs for operations personnel, including scenario-based readiness and emergency response exercises, strengthening technical competency, workforce development, and knowledge transfer across the organization.
  • Support standardization of SOPs/EOPs/MOPs and technical documentation processes to reduce approval timelines and strengthen audit and compliance readiness.
  • Provide input into enterprise-wide operational governance frameworks and help institutionalize lessons learned across sites, driving consistency, repeatability, and operational excellence globally.
  • Serve as a point of contact between site-level operations teams and corporate operational excellence initiatives, supporting organizational readiness and leadership development across the business.
