About The Position

The University of Lynchburg is seeking an Associate Director of Westover Honors, a non-tenure-track administrative faculty position, to begin in the 2026-27 academic year. This role involves both administrative and teaching responsibilities within a vibrant, student-centered, collaborative environment. The Westover Honors Community is designed to support students interested in academic and intellectual success through small class sizes, intensive advising, social events, and connections with alumni. The position offers opportunities to utilize resources from the Teaching and Learning Center for AI Excellence and the Percy Wootton Research Center, and to apply for internal funds for scholarly work and professional development.

Requirements

  • A PhD or terminal degree (preferred fields include English, philosophy, art, science, or political science).
  • A history of excellence in teaching and student mentorship.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • The selected candidate must successfully complete a background check that is satisfactory to the University.

  • Candidates will have the opportunity to take advantage of resources provided by the Teaching and Learning Center for AI Excellence and the Percy Wootton Research Center and will be eligible to apply for internal funds to support travel, scholarly work, faculty-student research, and professional development.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching and faculty rank in the Westover Honors program, including general education courses in the associate director’s discipline as well as senior honors projects.
  • Collaborating with colleagues on program development and assessment, tracking graduate outcomes, supervising student research projects, new student recruitment, service to the University and community, and engaging in scholarly activity.
  • Advising up to 60 Westover Honors students.
  • Supporting and attending Westover Honors and university occasions as well as admissions, recruitment, and orientation events.
  • Elevating students’ pursuit of academic excellence, including promotion of student research and advising for prestigious awards and scholarships.
