About The Position

Humana is evolving how social media strategy, storytelling, channel planning, and performance insights work together to help people understand our brand and engage with our health care mission. As Associate Director, Social Media, you will help shape and execute audience-centered social strategies across priority channels, balancing creative excellence, operational discipline, compliance, and measurable impact. In a typical day, you may guide social content planning, partner with creative and communications teams, review performance insights, advise stakeholders on channel best practices, and help ensure social content is useful, compliant, timely, and aligned to Humana’s voice. This role is ideal for a collaborative leader who understands how social media can build trust, support members and patients, and strengthen Humana’s reputation. The Associate Director, Social Media leads the strategy, planning, execution, and optimization of organic social media programs that support Humana’s brand, business priorities, and audience needs. This role translates enterprise messaging, campaign goals, reputational priorities, and performance data into clear social strategies and content plans. The Associate Director partners across content strategy, creative, communications, brand, legal, compliance, analytics, and business teams to deliver social experiences that are relevant, compliant, and measurable. This work helps Humana connect with members, patients, caregivers, associates, providers, and stakeholders in ways that build understanding, trust, and engagement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Business, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • 8+ years of experience in social media strategy, digital marketing, content strategy, brand communications, public relations, or related marketing communications roles.
  • 2+ years of experience leading associates, managing direct reports, or directing cross-functional social media or content workstreams
  • Demonstrated experience developing social media strategies, content calendars, campaign plans, channel recommendations, or governance standards for multi-channel programs
  • Experience using social media analytics, audience insights, platform performance, or social listening data to inform content decisions and improve outcomes

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading social media strategy within an in-house agency, health care company, insurance company, or other regulated industry
  • Experience developing social content for enterprise brand, customer lifecycle marketing, or integrated campaign programs
  • Experience with social media management, publishing, workflow, analytics, or approval platforms such as Sprinklr, Workfront, Aprimo, or similar tools
  • Experience applying GenAI, automation, or scalable content models to improve social content quality, speed, consistency, personalization, or reuse
  • Experience presenting social strategy, editorial recommendations, risk considerations, and performance insights to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Lead organic social media strategy and content planning across priority channels, audiences, and business initiatives
  • Translate business goals, audience insights, brand standards, and performance data into social content calendars, campaign recommendations, and channel guidance
  • Partner with creative, communications, brand, legal, compliance, analytics, and business stakeholders to deliver social content that is clear, engaging, compliant, and on brand
  • Use social performance reporting, listening insights, and platform trends to optimize content, improve engagement, and inform future strategy
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of social media strategists, setting clear priorities, strengthening strategic capability, and fostering accountability for high-quality social programs
  • Guide social media governance, workflows, stakeholder education, and team routines that improve quality, speed, consistency, and accountability
