About The Position

St. Ann’s Community is seeking a dynamic Associate Director of Nursing for the St. Ann's Nursing Department. This individual will have overall responsibility for providing excellent elder/patient/patient care within their units. In this role, the individual is responsible for planning, organizing, leading and controlling the overall operation of the community 24/7. They will assist the Director of Nursing with departmental leadership through the deployment of St. Ann's Mission, Vision and Values.

Requirements

  • RN BSN Required
  • CPR Certification is required within one (1) month of hire and is required to be maintained
  • Minimum five (5) years nursing management experience
  • Must have Quality Improvement experience
  • 3-5 years experience in Long term care, Acute care, Transitional care and/or Staff education or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

  • Nursing administration on call responsibility, including taking calls from supervisors and potentially coming into the facility to take a nurse or supervisor assignment.
  • Maintain personal professional growth in current nursing practices for geriatric nursing and patient rehabilitation and adjust current educational programs to reflect acquired knowledge.
  • Provide leadership in the development and implementation of Departmental initiatives to support organizational educational objectives.
  • Incorporate evidence-based practice into organization policies, procedures, and educational programs.
  • Coordinate departmental performance improvement activities in conjunction with the Director of Quality.
  • Coordinate Nursing orientation for all new hires.
  • Design and implement organization-wide teaching and participative learning opportunities for staff, enhancing their involvement in all aspects of care.
  • Coordinate the NYS Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program for St. Ann’s to meet Federal laws, DOH and State Education Department regulations.
  • Draft applications and proposals for submittal to funding agencies, governmental and granting foundations, working with St. Ann’s Foundation.
  • Partner with HR on various organizational development opportunities.
  • Participate regularly in QAPI meetings and provide support and/or leadership to various organizational incentives.
  • Monitor acuity standards of community operations and incident reports to assess needs and facilitate problem resolution.
  • Guide and evaluate the delivery of nursing care and implementation of the nursing process; assure that nursing care plans are followed.
  • Actively involved in monitoring CMI scores.
  • Monitor Quality Measures, Nursing Home Five Star Rating and Nursing Home Quality Initiatives ratings.
  • Ensure staff compliance in accordance with departmental policies as well as all State and Federal regulatory guidelines.
  • Disseminate new and revised policies and maintain appropriate records.
  • Drive continuous process improvement through initiative and innovation; suggest/implement best practices (i.e., audits documentation and monitors process effectiveness).
  • Investigate incidents of abuse/neglect and special family concerns; provide oral/written reports to DON immediately.
  • Oversee Elder/patient and Family Rounding.
  • Oversee the overall development of staff members including hiring, orientation, professional development, discipline and termination of staff in collaboration with both Nursing Administration and the Human Resource Department.
  • Monitor requirements of St. Ann’s disciplinary process and procedures and monitor disciplinary action to assure consistency.
  • Review position control with Nurse Managers.
  • Assume responsibility and accountability for accurate ADP/payroll records.
  • Monitor and justify all overtime patterns of unit nursing staff.
  • Serve on various committees within St. Ann's, as assigned, and provide written/oral reports to Nursing Administration on programs and activities, as required.
  • Round monthly on community staff members.
  • Be on call 24 hours, 7 days a week.
  • Participate in Manager on duty weekend rotation.
  • Provide administrative on call and on call rotation to cover open supervision shifts.
