Our Values Respect | Belonging | Accountability | Transparency Department Safety Reporting Ctr Job Summary Working with RMPDS leadership, the Associate Director of Medical Information is responsible for the design, oversight, and leadership of the Medical Information Drug Center programs and services. The Associate Director of Medical Information provides oversight to the quality and audit readiness of services delivered. Ensures services and programs are in accordance with accepted ethical, auditable, and professionally accepted practices and all legal and regulatory requirements. Works in collaboration with support functions to deliver superior medical information, pharmacovigilance, or medical affairs services to the industries supported.

Requirements

  • Doctorate Degree Doctor of Pharmacy Required
  • Master's Degree Business Administration (MBA) Required
  • 4-6 years As a licensed Pharmacist Required
  • 1-3 years Managerial/supervisory experience in Pharmacy or Medical Affairs Required
  • PHA-Licensed Pharmacist - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
  • Ability to lead a team, with a strong emphasis on people management and coaching employees.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to interact with other members of the healthcare team and with pharmacy leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of training and supervisory techniques.
  • Ability to instruct, direct, and evaluate employees.
  • If necessary, will be required to assume responsibility for staff management and daily operations.
  • Knowledge of applicable human resources policies and procedures.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Ability to progress the pharmacy clinical and residency programs in alignment with both the organizational and departmental strategic plan.
  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of pharmacy.
  • Thorough knowledge of the calculation of doses and the preparation and use of.
  • Thorough knowledge of pharmacy, drug, narcotic, and related state and federal laws.
  • Thorough knowledge of inventory control and record keeping related to the work.
  • Ability to recognize physical, chemical, and therapeutic incompatibilities and drug interactions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and prepare reports.
  • Knowledge of 340B regulations and standards of practice.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record software, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Allocates and manages resources to meet departmental and institutional service goals and objectives.
  • Responsible for analyzing and improving net promoter scores and employee engagement scores leading to greater stakeholder outcomes. This will include account management and financial viability of the department by contributing to an annual budget and ongoing management of departmental expenses and revenues.
  • Designs, implements and demonstrates the ability to perform complex duties and escalations as a pharmacist.
  • Addresses medical information inquiries in a timely, courteous, and professional manner.
  • Capture and submit adverse events report and product complaints within the required timelines.
  • Performs literature surveillance, medical writing activities, and outbound follow-up with caller’s or clients if applicable.
  • Modify or create clinical programs to enhance patient outcomes.
  • Ensure audit readiness and audit compliance.
  • Establishes strategic input and execution on strategic direction for the medical information/pharmacovigilance model including service integration across business units at RMPDS. This may require vision around superordinate goal planning to achieve goals.
  • Oversees human resource needs for the department (hiring, orienting, training, coaching, disciplining, retaining, performance expectations etc.).
  • Provides department financial and regulatory oversight and management.
  • Represents the department inside/outside the organization in relevant internal and external committees, forums, and professional organizations.
  • Complies with rules and regulations of all federal, state and local agencies, including but not limited to, Colorado State Board of Pharmacy, FDA, CMS, The Joint Commission, Colorado Department of Public Health, and the DEA.
