The Associate Director of Development is a frontline fundraiser responsible for the qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of major gift prospects. The Associate Director of Development will identify, engage, and solicit donors at all life stages, including prospect research, development of effective solicitation strategies and stewardship of donors throughout the major giving process. The Associate Director will typically maintain a donor portfolio with a focus on gifts of $50,000 or above. The Associate Director may require frequent travel and meetings on and off campus during regular and non-traditional business hours and is expected to operate with high levels of autonomy. The Institute for Basic Biomedical Sciences is engaged in a transformative opportunity to develop and implement a vision for a new Life Sciences Building (LSB) that will create a modernized ecosystem for discovery research spanning multiple schools, departments, and divisions across Johns Hopkins University and Medicine. The goals of this project are to: Revitalize and develop basic science research facilities Create cross-departmental scientific neighborhoods to turbocharge the pace, scope, and impact of research Solve the most pressing questions about how biology sustains life and dysfunction gives rise to disease To secure philanthropic support to harness the full potential of this opportunity, the Associate Director will work with the Executive Director of Development to implement fundraising strategies that support the research and educational needs of the LSB and the basic sciences ecosystem. The Associate Director will identify, cultivate, solicit and steward annual and major gifts, primarily focusing on graduate alumni and former postdocs and unaffiliated prospects. The Associate Director will work with the Executive Director and IBBS faculty, as well as across departments and schools, and will lead fundraising efforts for select programs and initiatives.
