Student and Campus Life (SCL) inspires transformation in all Cornell students on their journey of individual, academic and personal evolution. Our division is comprised of leading student affairs experts who support our campus on pressing student life matters including public service, health, wellbeing, connection and belonging, residential living, food services, sports, recreation, career services, and student activities and organizations including sorority and fraternity life. We provide support and services to roughly 25,000 undergraduate, graduate, and professional students on multiple campuses in the U.S. and abroad. Cornell Health’s Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) offers confidential counseling and psychiatric services, designed to help students with mental health concerns that may be affecting their quality of life and ability to learn. Our providers include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, counselors, and nurse practitioners from diverse cultural and clinical backgrounds. CAPS providers value students in all of their individuality, and are committed to welcoming all people with respect and sensitivity. Our providers regularly collaborate with Cornell Health’s diverse array of healthcare providers as an integrated service that support both the mind and the body. The Associate Director for Clinical Services, reports to the Director of Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) and is a key member of the leadership team. This role contributes to the department’s vision and strategic planning, serving as the CAPS representative (in the absence of the Director) when needed. The Associate Director oversees the daily operations of all aspects of clinical services, including the development of clinical scope and practice, staffing, and the continuous assessment and enhancement of service delivery of clinical care. In addition to supervising clinical staff, this position may provide some direct clinical services as needed. As a departmental leader, this role collaborates regularly with both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring that the Cornell community is well-informed about CAPS services and fostering connections across the university to ensure students receive comprehensive care and support.

Requirements

  • Masters in social work with “C” or “R” designation (LCSW or LCSW-R) or Doctorate in clinical or counseling psychology (PhD or PsyD)
  • A minimum of 7 years of work-related experience.
  • Licensed in New York State.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage clinical systems and partnerships and establish new ones as needed.
  • Experience supervising, managing, and leading a diverse clinical team.
  • Experience using electronic health record management systems.
  • Demonstrated skill in understanding cultural differences.
  • Proven experience connecting inclusion, belonging and wellbeing practices to business goals.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to create working partnerships across a variety of academic and student service systems within higher education.
  • Experience setting and measuring program outcomes.
  • Proficiency in a language in addition to English desirable.
