About The Position

The Associate Director of Career Services, under general direction, oversees the administration and organization of the Career Services Center and Student Engagement including career operations, all aspects of graduate and undergraduate student employment, career counseling, career assessment, student development workshops, employer outreach, and job development.

Requirements

• Master's degree in counseling, Student Affairs, or related degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 7 years of related experience.
• Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
• Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.
• Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
• Working knowledge of office software and instructional programs.
• Ability to orally comprehend and express information and use inductive and deductive reasoning.
• Ability to positively and professionally interact with clients and staff, groups of various sizes.
• Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

Nice To Haves

• Master's degree from an accredited college or university.

Responsibilities

• Leads the strategic planning for assigned areas and assists the Director in developing and implementing the overall departmental strategic plan.
• Develops, implements, coordinates, and evaluates career services programs: This includes coaching for graduate and undergraduate students and alumni related to: exploring career options; crafting job search marketing materials; networking and interviewing; evaluating offers and negotiating salary; and transitioning from graduate school to professional or academic positions.
• Directs advising and programming specifically for career counseling, career exploration, resume review, interview preparation, and other career development support.
• Conducts annual assessment of effectiveness of programs and implements program improvements based on assessment data.
• Develops and maintains effective relationships with employers. Establishes connections with a broad base of employers, government agencies, private industries, nonprofit agencies, and school districts.
• Develops, monitors, and manages the departmental budget to ensure effective fiscal management.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Develops, organizes, and presents workshops, classes, and professional development seminars on job seeking skills.
• Provides advising and programming specifically for career counseling, career exploration, resume review, interview preparation, and other career development support.
• Develops and coordinates career-related educational programs for classes, student organizations, groups of prospective students, new student orientations, and others as appropriate.
• This may include etiquette dinner(s) and custom workshops and presentations.
• Plans and implements career fairs and other career related forums.
• Trains and advises members of the student government.
• Coordinates directly with academic Colleges, employers, alumni, and students regarding the objectives of the internship program.
• Coordinates and oversees processes associated with on-campus interviewing.
• Plans, coordinates, and hosts annual events, including career fairs, graduate fairs, and other professional development activities.
• Designs, implements, and evaluates student leadership opportunities that enhance learning, involvement in campus life, leadership development, and success outside the classroom.
• Plans, coordinates, develops, and executes University policies, procedures, and practices relating to student leadership programs.
• Develops and nurtures collaborative relationships across campus to ensure quality program and activity partnerships.
• Oversee the development and ongoing maintenance and updating of the departmental web page.
• Manages the departmental marketing publications, license agreements, and handbooks.
• Assists in the development and support of partnerships with academic and student life departments to create and enhance student learning.
• Performs other duties, as assigned.
