About The Position

The Associate Director of Advancement serves as a strategic partner and operational lead in driving fundraising initiatives and supporting the institution's long-term sustainability. Partnering closely with the Vice President of Advancement, this role balances strategic pipeline development with tactical execution. The Associate Director manages a select portfolio of prospects, oversees prospect research and pipeline tracking, and executes donor stewardship initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Three to five years of progressive experience in advancement, development, or fundraising operations.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a proven track record of writing effective proposals and executive reports.
  • Ability to engage professionally with senior leaders, donors, and board members.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, manage multiple priorities and deadlines independently, and maintain strict confidentiality regarding donor information

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or CFRE certification is preferred.
  • Proficiency in CRM and donor database systems (e.g., Raiser's Edge), wealth-screening tools, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Vice President of Advancement to develop and execute annual and multi-year fundraising strategies.
  • Monitor departmental goals, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and generate regular revenue reports and performance dashboards for leadership.
  • Prepare comprehensive prospect briefings and proposals ahead of high-level solicitations.
  • Provide administrative and operational support, including preparing materials and tracking follow-up.
  • Proactively identify, research, and qualify prospective donors using wealth-screening tools and database analytics.
  • Maintain a robust prospect pipeline using a Moves Management framework to move donors systematically through the engagement lifecycle.
  • Oversee donor database integrity, ensuring all prospect research, contact reports, and solicitation strategies are accurately recorded.
  • Manage a portfolio of individual and foundation prospects, executing tailored strategies for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Draft compelling gift proposals, grant applications, personalized donor communications, and impact reports.
  • Conduct personal meetings and outreach visits to articulate the institution's mission and funding priorities.
  • Implement recognition and stewardship programs to ensure prompt, meaningful, and ongoing donor appreciation.
  • Coordinate and execute key advancement events, including donor recognition gatherings, regional outreach initiatives, and receptions.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications teams to align fundraising materials with broader organizational messaging.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to support the Advancement Department's overarching goals and priorities.
