About The Position

The Associate Director of Administrative Services provides senior level leadership for the administrative, fiscal, and compliance functions of the Criminal Justice Institute. This position is responsible for leading people, managing resources, and ensuring compliance across budget and fiscal matters, grant administration, human resources, information technology programs, and project management. The Associate Director serves as a key advisor to the Director and ensures that administrative operations effectively support the Institute’s mission and strategic objectives. Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others. This position is not remote; it requires on-site work at the Criminal Justice Institute office in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, public administration, accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of significant leadership experience, including supervision.
  • Demonstrated experience in budget and fiscal management, grant compliance, and administrative operations.
  • Proven project management experience across multiple functional areas.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Other job-related education and/or experience may be substituted for all or part of these basic requirements upon approval of the Director of the Criminal Justice Institute.

  • Master’s degree in a related field.
  • Leadership experience in higher education or public-sector administration.
  • Familiarity with statewide programs, grant-funded operations, or criminal justice organizations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, supervise, and develop administrative staff; provide day-to-day leadership and performance management.
  • Oversee all budget and fiscal operations, including planning, monitoring, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Manage grant and contract administrative functions, including compliance, fiscal oversight, and required reporting.
  • Provide leadership for human resources functions, including hiring processes, personnel management, evaluations, and policy compliance.
  • Oversee coordination of information technology programs and systems in collaboration with University of Arkansas System resources.
  • Lead and manage administrative projects from planning through execution, ensuring timelines, compliance, and deliverables are met.
  • Ensure compliance with university, state, and federal policies, regulations, and internal controls.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain administrative policies, procedures, and best practices to support efficient operations.
  • Serve as the primary administrative liaison between the Institute and University of Arkansas System offices.
  • Assist the Director with reporting, audits, strategic planning, and special initiatives.
