About The Position

Mount Mercy University is currently accepting applications for an Associate Director of Academic Coaching & Enrichment within our Academic Coaching & Enrichment Center (ACE) at our St. Ambrose Davenport campus. This is a full-time exempt position.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in related field.
  • 3-5 years' experience in higher education in the area(s) of academic coaching, retention, student affairs, academic support, or related areas.
  • Commitment to student success, retention, and inclusive educational practices.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to create rapport and positive academic coaching relationships with identified students to encourage and increase participation in academic support programs and events.
  • Relate positively and respectfully to all students, faculty, staff, and visitors from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Effectively use Microsoft 365, Outlook, Excel, and other office productivity software i.e. Adobe and Canva.
  • Knowledge of current legislation regarding FERPA and ADAA, with a commitment to assuring a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Work both independently and collaboratively with department team members in a student-centered fast-paced university academic center.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational leadership for the Academic Coaching & Enrichment (ACE) Center on the assigned campus.
  • Ensure a positive, welcoming environment and experience for all students, faculty, staff, and guests who visit the Academic Coaching & Enrichment Center (ACE Center) and the university campus.
  • Support all aspects of the university academic support programs and resources.
  • Provide supervision and evaluation of assigned staff on the assigned campus.
  • Responsible for managing day-to-day operations and academic retention initiatives to support student progression toward degree completion.
  • Coordinate academic coaching services which include training and supporting academic coaches as well as providing direct academic coaching services to assigned students.
  • Oversee the recruitment, hiring, training, and supervision of student employees (Graduate Assistants, content tutors, peer academic coaches, writing tutors) within the Academic Coaching & Enrichment (ACE) Center.
  • Coordinate and manage the Peer Educator/Student Employee program, including hiring, training, scheduling and supervision of student employees. This includes goal setting, time-clock processes, managing program schedules, and evaluation processes.
  • Maintain high-quality customer service and foster collaborative partnerships among staff, faculty, and university leadership to support persistence and retention efforts.
  • Work in partnership with faculty and university leadership to develop efficient processes to identify students in need of academic support and connect identified students with available resources.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the university network to strengthen and align academic outreach programs with emerging trends and data-based best practices for academic support programs in higher education.
  • Teach assigned sections of academic development courses and assist in the development and revision of academic development courses according to university processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate and lead day-to-day operations of available summer BRIDGE programs on the assigned campus.
  • Manage the collection, tracking, storage, and reporting of confidential data pertaining to academic support programs according to campus data integrity policy, FERPA, and End User compliance.
  • Maintain oversight of academic center software management programs on assigned campus to include training staff, collection of data, and identifying outreach opportunities based on early alert data.
  • Provide outreach and marketing to the campus community via email, social media posts, campus communication resources, and events to increase engagement in academic support and enrichment programs.
  • Represent ACE and academic support programs to current and prospective students, faculty, staff, and visitors at campus events including campus visit days, registration days, and other outreach opportunities.
  • Occasional evening and/or weekend hours are required.
