About The Position

The Associate Director, MITES Programs, within the School of Engineering at MIT, reports to the Executive Director. This role involves leading and developing a team of seven professional staff members to align programs across operational areas and foster collaboration among team members and business partners to fully implement MITES’ outreach programs. The position is responsible for developing and monitoring systems, workflows, and training to ensure the safety of students and staff, and managing the recruitment and onboarding of over 100 seasonal program staff annually.

Requirements

  • A minimum of five years of supervisory experience with direct reports, including performance management.
  • Demonstrated ability to have difficult conversations when needed.
  • Experience in program planning and development.
  • Bachelor’s degree in science, engineering, or education.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule with evening and weekend hours, including in-person programmatic activities on Saturdays (16 sessions), summer residential (June and July), and virtual programming in the evenings when in session.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced management and outstanding leadership experience.
  • Seven or more years in educational or nonprofit settings, including supervising other managers, overseeing budgets, strategic planning, and organizational growth.
  • Proven ability to thrive in dynamic, growth-oriented environments, with experience managing multiple priorities, meeting tight timelines, and scaling.
  • Experienced with high school students and leading undergraduates, graduate students, and professionals.
  • Master’s degree in education, public administration, higher education administration, nonprofits, or a related field equivalent.
  • Experience at MIT.
