About The Position

The Medical Science Liaison (MSL) program is designed to meet the needs of Scientific and Clinical Experts (SEs/CEs) who require in-depth and cutting-edge information in specific therapeutic areas. MSLs are field-based medical professionals with deep content knowledge about specific disease states, Lilly and competitive compounds, and the landscape within their therapeutic areas. They facilitate scientific exchange between industry and the scientific community, providing valuable information to address clinical and scientific questions and informing Lilly’s strategic direction for research and commercialization. MSLs are expected to continuously learn to maintain expertise, engage in scientific exchange, and serve as a reliable resource for unbiased, accurate, and up-to-date medical and scientific information. They are a primary interface between Lilly medical and SEs/CEs, utilizing emotional intelligence and strategic thinking to deliver a positive customer experience, connect customers with other Lilly resources, and facilitate collaborative research. MSLs are responsible for strategic territory analysis, planning, and prioritization to maximize efficiency, implementing and evaluating a strategic territory plan, and taking personal accountability for results. They are expected to partner compliantly with other Lilly field roles and utilize territory analytics for customer identification and routing. MSLs synthesize and communicate actionable customer/clinical insights to internal teams, use good judgment, cultivate internal networks, and collaborate effectively across functions. They embrace change, exercise strategic agility, and utilize innovative resources, demonstrating Team Lilly Behaviors (Include, Innovate, Accelerate, and Deliver). They contribute to team goals and execute their role compliantly, adhering to all governing requirements, procedures, and laws.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in health sciences (e.g., PharmD, MD, PhD in a medically related field) required with 2-3 years of relevant clinical or therapeutic area experience desired.
  • OR Masters or bachelor's level degree in health sciences (e.g. BSN, RPh, PA, NP) considered if 5 or more years clinical, research or industry experience in relevant therapeutic area is present.
  • Qualified applicants must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and acceptable driving record.

  • Field based position requires ability to travel up to 80% and work up to 4 to 6 weekends a year.

Responsibilities
