About The Position

The Associate Director, Medical Communications leads the strategic execution of scientific content development and review of materials for unsolicited medical information requests, and ensures the accuracy and integrity of promotional, medical, and sales materials for products within the Hematology portfolio. This role is crucial for developing and reviewing medical information scientific response documents, managing authoring vendors, identifying content needs, and overseeing dissemination. The position also involves conducting medical reviews of promotional and medical materials, providing medical guidance, and participating in multidisciplinary teams to support the therapeutic area's strategic plan. The Associate Director will leverage clinical knowledge to identify trends and scientific intelligence, champion patient insights to drive medical affairs actions, and lead new product launch support. Additionally, this role will support the development of innovative information delivery tools, champion AI capabilities for content development, and guide the training and development of the team to enhance Medical Communications capabilities.

Requirements

  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years of drug information/medical information or comparable experience within the health care/clinical/hospital environment is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct literature analysis is required.
  • Experience developing responses to scientific inquiries from healthcare professionals and/or consumers is required.
  • Project management experience is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Strategic thinking and cross-functional collaboration are required.
  • Experience utilizing Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required.

Nice To Haves

  • PharmD or PhD degree is highly preferred.
  • A Drug Information or clinical residency/fellowship is preferred.
  • Deep understanding of hematology/oncology products and diseases is preferred.
  • Proven creative problem solving and understanding of customer needs is highly preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to learning emerging technologies, such as AI, through exploration, iteration, and applying new tools over time is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, review and/or approval of medical information scientific response documents, including management of authoring vendor, monitoring customer/stakeholder needs to identify topics for new content, and oversight of innovative responses and omnichannel dissemination.
  • Conducts medical review activities, including review of promotional and medical materials.
  • Provides medical guidance for development and review of promotional, medical, or sales training materials.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary therapeutic area teams to contribute to the functional strategic plan in support of the therapeutic area.
  • Leverages clinical knowledge and expertise to direct the review and identification of emerging trends and scientific intelligence, meaningful for each audience.
  • Champions VOC/insights by identifying unmet needs/gaps to drive impactful actions for medical affairs.
  • Leads new product launch/indication support.
  • Supports the development of tools and innovative approaches for creative delivery of information.
  • Champion AI capabilities to enhance scientific content planning and development.
  • Guides initial and ongoing training of new hires and identifies opportunities for learning and development of the team to advance Medical Communications capabilities.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional partners to provide therapeutic area and product expertise.
