The Role We are seeking an Associate Director, Strategic Planning and Effectiveness Lead for Medical Affairs Capabilities (MAC) focused on operational excellence across the portfolio. The individual will serve as the cornerstone for delivering innovative solutions and cultivating a high-performing, collaborative culture aligned with the organization’s broader strategy, The ideal candidate will bring deep experience in strategic operations, financial governance, and vendor management, with the ability to translate business strategy into scalable operating models that maximize impact and efficiency. This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring a nimble thinker with strong interpersonal skills, medical affairs and operational acumen, and the ability to pivot quickly as new data and priorities emerge.

Requirements

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 3 years of progressive experience in or resource planning, contracting strategy, or Strategy & Operations, ideally within Commercialization or Medical Affairs.
  • Strong understanding of financial planning systems (e.g., SAP) and contracts lifecycle management tools (e.g., DocuSign,).
  • Understanding of Medical Affairs Capabilities Systems (Steeprock, IRMS, iEnvision) is highly valued
  • Proven success in building and operationalizing scalable processes that integrate strategy, finance, and execution.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to influence across functions and levels.
  • High attention to detail balanced with strategic foresight, able to simplify complexity and ensure alignment.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills; adept at presenting operational insights to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Refine process frameworks for contracting, resource tracking, and budget reconciliation to strengthen transparency and audit readiness
  • Collaborate with finance and key business stakeholders to review the monthly budget, ensuring accuracy of accruals, invoices, and other key budget management responsibilities in alignment with strategic and operational objectives.
  • Establish robust project governance, KPIs, dashboards, and measurement frameworks to ensure transparency, accountability, and effective decision‑making.
  • Champion continuous improvement and automation initiatives to shorten cycle times and improve stakeholder experience.
  • Collaborate across MAC team, Digital & Analytics, and enabling functions to accelerate adoption of new processes, tools, and technologies.
  • Develops agendas for key internal meetings, facilitates effective discussions, documents clear action items, and drives communication and accountability within the MAC organization.
  • Supports the preparation of leadership meetings, executive team meetings, and other senior management meetings, including development of presentation materials and briefing documents.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to the MAC leadership team, contributing insights that influence operating rhythm, planning cycles, and investment decisions.
