About The Position

The Group Risk Management Balance Sheet Liquidity Risk (GRM-BSLR) team performs the second line of defense role for all balance sheet and liquidity risks at the enterprise level. Within BSLR, the enterprise liquidity team performs oversight of liquidity risk across the globe including the risk appetite and limits and oversight of 1st line (Corporate Treasury, Capital Markets etc.) liquidity risk management activities across large portfolios of assets, liabilities and off-balance sheet instruments, at the RBC level and within individual business lines and legal entities. As a Liquidity Risk Associate Director, you'll drive independent oversight and governance of liquidity parameters across RBC's global operations. This is a high-impact role where you'll partner with capital markets business lines and Corporate Treasury to challenge and refine how RBC identifies and captures liquidity risk across deposits, loans, securities, derivatives, secured funding and other products. You'll develop deep expertise in varied banking products while shaping the strategic direction of RBCs liquidity risk framework.

Requirements

  • Strong understanding of capital market businesses, particularly valuable would be an understanding of global markets businesses including equities, prime brokerage etc
  • Understanding of liquidity risk and liquidity risk parameters
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience with major banks
  • Understanding of key liquidity regulatory metrics and requirements
  • Strong presentation skills including Microsoft PowerPoint
  • Demonstrable experience of communicating complex concepts to audiences of varying levels, including senior stakeholders
  • Understanding of a bank’s businesses and balance sheet structure

Nice To Haves

  • CFA designation is beneficial.
  • Previous experience with risk oversight, Balance Sheet Management, Liquidity Risk, Stress Testing and Policy Oversight

Responsibilities

  • Lead parameter review across capital markets - independently review and challenge internal and regulatory liquidity metrics across RBC's global businesses, driving consistency and rigor in our risk parameterization
  • Be a trusted advisor - serve as the primary contact for parameter queries, collaborating strategically with treasury teams, business lines, and other GRM colleagues
  • Deliver high-impact analysis - produce executive-level product reviews, market condition assessments, and additional management information
  • Strengthen RBCs framework - partner with liquidity risk colleagues and other stakeholders to enhance parameter review methodologies and contribute to best-practice development
  • Drive continuous improvement - maintain deep awareness of evolving regulatory requirements and proactively plan for compliance, positioning RBC ahead of liquidity risk standards.
  • Own stakeholder relationships - build credibility with senior stakeholders through independent thinking, technical expertise, and clear communication.
