About The Position

Reporting to the Director of the Lifetime Financial Security (LFS) Program, MI Finance, the Associate Director, will be responsible for conducting research on financial security topics, planning and participating in panel discussions and meetings, drafting research reports and other materials, co-leading discussions at events, preparing media and event materials, assisting with strategic planning, maintaining and facilitating partnerships, and developing program partner outreach. The role also involves other tasks as assigned by the LFS Program Director. The Milken Institute is a global think tank focused on practical solutions to global challenges, and MI Finance specifically works to promote financial market understanding and expand access to capital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree strongly preferred.
  • General understanding of the US financial markets.
  • Experience in or significant knowledge of one or more of the following: financial markets, financial policy, financial education, personal finance, economics, or retirement security.
  • 7-10 years of relevant experience.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to balance high-touch stakeholder management and hands-on implementation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interest in research and writing.
  • Interest in public policy and public-private partnerships.
  • Mature judgment and excellent critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to work on event convenings, as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting research on topics related to financial security, including retirement planning, financial education, debt management, early wealth building, women’s financial security issues, the feminization of wealth, defending against financial fraud and scams, and global financial health issues.
  • Working closely with the LFS Program Director on planning for public and private panel discussions at Milken Institute events.
  • Helping plan for and participate in meetings with financial security and retirement researchers and experts from financial firms.
  • Assisting in drafting research reports, white papers, insights pieces, and talking points.
  • Co-leading discussions at public and private events in coordination with the LFS Program Director, as needed.
  • Preparing materials for use in media interviews.
  • Preparing materials for outside events, policy dinners, and private dialogues.
  • Assisting with strategic planning in conjunction with the LFS Program Director.
  • Working with the LFS Program Director to maintain and facilitate MI Finance partnerships with key external organizations to advance core objectives.
  • Assisting with developing and expanding program partner, stakeholder, and sponsor outreach.
  • Other tasks as assigned by the LFS Program Director.
