About The Position

This leadership role supports the successful operation of Food & Nutrition Services within an acute care hospital setting. The Associate Director of Food and Nutritional Services plays a key role in overseeing all foodservice-related activities, including patient dining, retail and catering services, quality improvement initiatives, sanitation, infection control, and overall compliance with hospital standards. This is an exciting opportunity for a dynamic, entrepreneurial leader who is passionate about continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Service Management, Nutrition, or related field; or Associate degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Registered Dietitian (RD) preferred
  • 1–3 years of experience in hospital or healthcare foodservice (acute care or long-term care)
  • 3–5 years of foodservice operations management experience, including inventory and purchasing
  • Strong knowledge of food trends, production, sanitation, presentation, and cost control
  • Experience with P&L management or contract foodservice operations preferred
  • Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and team development skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Strong financial acumen, including budgeting and reporting skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other systems required for successful operations
  • ServSafe® certification required

Responsibilities

  • Support the overall management of patient dining, retail, cafeteria, and catering operations
  • Ensure high levels of client, patient, and customer satisfaction
  • Assist in driving efficient, cost-effective foodservice operations and financial performance
  • Oversee and maintain safety, sanitation, and infection control programs in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with patients, hospital leadership, and cross-functional departments
  • Promote team development through coaching, training, and professional growth initiatives
  • Monitor quality improvement efforts and implement best practices to enhance service delivery
  • Support inventory management, purchasing, and cost control initiatives
  • Foster strong interdepartmental collaboration and align foodservice operations with overall hospital goals
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with all healthcare, regulatory, and company standards
