About The Position

Nearwater Capital is seeking an experienced professional to fill a key leadership role within our finance team owning the financial reporting and consolidation function. This is a high-impact role operating in a dynamic, deal-driven environment where financial reporting must keep pace with a complex and evolving portfolio of structured finance transactions. You will lead the buildout of scalable consolidation and reporting infrastructure. You will also support the implementation of initiatives to improve the timeliness and quality of internal and external financial reporting, including KPIs and other reporting to inform management decision making and other stakeholder requirements.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in financial reporting, consolidations, or public accounting; background in banking, broker-dealer, or financial services strongly preferred.
  • Expert-level US GAAP technical knowledge; IFRS exposure is a strong plus.
  • Experience with complex finance structures, off-balance sheet arrangements, and the accounting treatment of structured finance transactions is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with auditors and external stakeholders in a reporting capacity.
  • Strong understanding of multi-entity and multi-currency consolidation environments
  • Proven experience leading consolidation or reporting system implementations, ideally in a high-growth or build-out environment.
  • CPA or equivalent qualification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own the consolidation process across all legal entities, including intercompany eliminations, and multi-currency reporting.
  • Oversee preparation and sign-off of external financial statements and internal management reporting in accordance with US GAAP (IFRS knowledge a plus).
  • Assist with ad hoc reporting requests from senior leadership, and other stakeholders in support of the firms business development initiatives.
  • Define and govern the Global Chart of Accounts framework, driving standardization across entities and enforcing rigorous change control standards.
  • Lead the discovery, selection, and implementation of the consolidation system — from business case through go-live — ensuring the platform can accommodate the complexity of structured finance transactions, multi-entity and multi-currency reporting.
  • Play a key decision making role and support the implementation of the group financial reporting platform, ensuring seamless integration with upstream systems and embedding robust governance and control standards.
  • Participate in the development of accounting and reporting procedures for new products and business initiatives, including assessing the US GAAP reporting and consolidation impact of new financing structures and instruments prior to close.
  • Support the enhancement of the firm’s management reporting, by using technology solutions to create KPI and other visual dashboards, and the development of enhanced executive financial packs that provide insight into the key drivers of the firm’s performance.
  • Be a proactive contributor, who is comfortable taking a hands on role and being accountable for the financial reporting and consolidation function with the ability to build scalable processes and infrastructure from the ground up.
  • Act as a key liaison with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, and senior stakeholders on all financial reporting and consolidation matters.
