About The Position

The Associate Director, Field Access and Reimbursement serves as an access and reimbursement resource for assigned ATCs and internal Kite partners. The role supports compliant reimbursement education, barrier identification, appropriate escalation, and field insight capture to help inform access planning and coordinated Market Access execution. This role provides field-based access and reimbursement support within complex CAR-T treatment environments. The Associate Director, Field Access and Reimbursement will work in coordination with established Kite stakeholders who engage with each ATC to support access planning, reimbursement issue resolution, barrier reduction, and coordinated execution. The individual in this role contributes reimbursement expertise, captures relevant field insights, and supports coordinated solutions that align with Kite’s access model and broader Market Access objectives. Territory: US - West. This is a field-based position that will be responsible for US - West. Candidates should reside within the geography.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience.
  • OR Master’s degree and 8+ years of experience.
  • OR Advanced degree (MD, PharmD, PhD) and 2+ years of experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 7+ years of experience in reimbursement, patient access, provider support, or related functions within oncology, rare disease, cell therapy, or gene therapy.
  • Strong knowledge of buy-and-bill, institutional billing, payer coverage policy, and medical benefit reimbursement pathways.
  • Demonstrated experience navigating prior authorization, appeals, denials, and complex reimbursement scenarios.
  • Experience supporting CAR-T or similar therapies, including familiarity with patient flow from leukapheresis through post-infusion management.
  • Strong knowledge of coding systems including ICD-10, CPT, and HCPCS.
  • Billing and coding certification, for example CPC, or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
  • Experience supporting large, complex treatment centers, academic institutions, and/or community practices.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration and stakeholder influence skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within complex provider and cross-functional environments.
  • Experience using CRM systems such as Veeva for documentation, insight capture, and account planning.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a subject matter expert for field-based access and reimbursement for ATCs in assigned geography working in coordination with Key Account Directors, Regional Account Directors, National Account Directors, Patient Services, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Sales, and other Kite stakeholders engaged with each center.
  • Provide reimbursement and access education consistent with approved resources, role responsibilities, company policies, and compliant field engagement practices.
  • Provide reimbursement process education, as appropriate, related to benefit verification, prior authorization, single case agreements, claims submission, payment delays, and appeals processes.
  • Support stakeholder understanding of inpatient and outpatient billing and coding considerations, including ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS, DRG, and associated reimbursement methodologies.
  • Support provider understanding of payer-specific access requirements, as appropriate, including out-of-network exceptions, Centers of Excellence networks, single case agreements, global case rate structures and medical policy.
  • Help identify, escalate, and support resolution of reimbursement barriers, including prior authorization delays, denials, payer contracting and claims issues.
  • Work through appropriate internal and external channels to support timely, coordinated, and compliant resolution of access challenges.
  • Support appropriate case routing to Patient Services and Kite Konnect Case Manager, consistent with program scope and approved processes.
  • Reinforce program scope, capabilities, and role boundaries across patient support and patient services programs.
  • Support alignment with patient support programs and broader Market Access strategy.
  • Engage revenue cycle stakeholders to help assess reimbursement delays, billing pathway challenges, and operational barriers.
  • Identify opportunities, in partnership with internal Kite cross-functional stakeholders, to support education around financial predictability and program sustainability with approved resources.
  • Coordinate with Key Account Directors, Regional Account Directors, National Account Directors, Patient Services, Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, Trade, and other stakeholders to support aligned access discussions with ATCs.
  • Collaborate with Legal, Medical, Regulatory, and Market Access partners to support compliant execution and alignment with approved access strategies.
  • Contribute to coordinated, compliant approaches to solving complex access challenges.
  • Gather and synthesize field insights related to payer policies, reimbursement processes, and recurring access challenges.
  • Contribute to the development of tools, resources, best practices, and recommendations that may support access execution across treatment centers.
  • Document field activities, insights, and trends within CRM systems such as Veeva, consistent with company expectations.
  • Deliver reimbursement education, as appropriate, to ATC billing, access, and revenue cycle teams using approved materials and resources.
  • Provide education to internal stakeholders on reimbursement pathways, payer dynamics, and emerging access considerations.
  • Support the development and delivery of training initiatives that enhance organizational reimbursement knowledge.
  • Maintain focused account planning inputs related to access risks, opportunities, and reimbursement priorities.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of field activity, insights, and follow-up actions.
  • Perform all responsibilities in a compliant, non-promotional manner consistent with company policies, applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.
